HR seminar set for March 29

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Developmen­t Center and the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce are presenting a seminar - “Hiring and Firing the Right Way—HR Seminar for Small Businesses” - at 1 p.m. March 29 at the chamber offices on Main Street.

The event will help attendees “learn how to establish a complete hiring and onboarding process, and how to avoid the pitfalls of an erroneous employee terminatio­n.”

Mayhaw jelly workshop to be held Tuesday

Ready for the Mayhaw berries to ripen? Join Paula Kinnaird in the kitchen of the Newton House Museum from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday for a “Sippin’ & Stirrin’ Mayhaw Jelly Workshop.”

Kinnaird will guide those in attendance Tuesday through all aspect of the Mayhaw jelly making process, from harvesting the fruit, cleaning and separating berries, preparing the kitchen, juice and jelly making, and the safe and sanitized bottling procedures. Attendees are also welcome to bring a beverage of their choice to enjoy.

The workshop costs $25. To reserve a spot, call the South Arkansas Historical Preservati­on Society at 870-862-9890.
