Preparing for the Storm

-

To the Editor:

Timely preparation and unity help community weather the recent storm.

I would like to personally and publicly thank the men and women who worked so dilligently to prepare and protect the community of Felsenthal during the recent flooding. Our County Judge, Mike Loftin, readily provided the resources necessary for ensuring that the citizens of Union County were extended safe and reliable access to and from the flooded area. Our County Sherriff, Rickey Roberts, swiftly dispatched the much needed personnel and equipment to serve and protect the community. I would like to thank the taxpayers of Union County for not only participating through their funding of our County Government, but for electing these individuals whom possess the character and qualities necessary to be the valuable stewards they are.

I would like to thank Felsenthal City Mayor, Mrs. Linda Newberry, and her staff for their efforts of advising our county officials to the needs of the community. I personally thank Richard Thurlkill (TK General Contractors), Richard and Diane Anders (Anders Trucking), for their immediate and timely response. Thank you to Richard Thurlkill, Mickey Parker, David Culp, Eugene and Deane Walthall, Bill Hickman, Jeff Orr, Rusty Pratt, Chief Deputy Charley Philips, Jamie Morrow, and the Union County Deputies for your service and effort.

One thing a person can control in another’s time of need is one’s own effort to aid. Be it known that not only I, but all of the residents of Felsenthal appreciate your efforts and your character. To our public officials, thank you for being responsible stewards fo the positions you so willingly accepted. To all of the volunteers, thank you for your spontaneity and generous actions. It’s a wonderful thing to see people working together selflessly for the benefit of others. Thank you all for your willingness! Sincerely and respectfully, David W. Reynolds El Dorado
