Change coming thanks to new opportunity

- Questions? Comments? Pictures? Send them to katiem@ eldoradonews.com.

Ihave had a lot on my mind lately and I have racked my brain trying to figure out a way to express these feelings in my writing today.

I figure the best way is to just come out and say it.

I was recently offered a wonderful opportunity with a local business and I have decided to pursue this chance.

I will be leaving the El Dorado News-Times effective Monday, March 26th.

On Tuesday, March 27th, I will begin a new adventure with a new job in El Dorado.

I will not be in advertising sales anymore, but I will still bring my column every Thursday just as I have for over two years.

I was asked to continue my column so I will write as often as I can.

I am going to miss all of my customers, clients and coworkers, but I realize that God has a new chapter in my life planned for me so I am going to take it.

I will continue to do my weekly column and I will continue to post any pictures that you send.

I will have my new email posted in my next column.

You can still contact me even after my departure.

With turkey season approaching, I anticipate the wonderful youth photos and first or largest harvest photos.

Now that I have spilled the news, I will still look forward to all of the emails from readers.

Please don't stop writing to me as I love hearing from you.

I have to congratulate my mom on her accomplishment last weekend.

I was seeing a ton of new wild hog signs on our land from the high water flushing them out of the bottoms.

My mom successfully killed three and fatally wounded three more wild hogs.

I had found a very large track and this particular hog did not show up the day that she shot the others.

I caught him on camera just a few days later so his big 300-pound self is still at large.

I hope she gets a chance to take him out because he will hurt someone or a dog.

They are getting more and more brave and the chance that they charge a child or family pet is on the rise.

With the river bottoms flooded, they are rushing to higher ground and will be coming closer to humans.

Please keep your eyes peeled for fresh mud rubbed on trees, rooting, tracks and do not let your kids play where hogs could sneak up on them.

Sows are having their first litters of baby pigs for the year right now and getting between a sow and her offspring can be very dangerous.

Wild hogs do not run off like deer.

A small child can be easily injured.

Watch your pets because having your dog stitched up after being cut by a hog tusk is no fun.

I hope you all have a wonderful spring break with your kids.

The weather will be great next week for a fishing trip.

I know the river is up but taking your children to a lake or pond can be just as fun.

Grab a few sandwiches, some cokes, a few fishing poles and a few worms and try your luck at a fishing hole.

I promise your kids will remember a fishing trip more than any day of watching TV or playing video games.
