Bucks upend Tigers

GREENLAND - After being limited to just seven hits in their first two games on their spring break trip, Smackover's offense sprang to life on Friday, as the Bucks banged out 15 hits to top Charleston 20-14 at the Greenland Tournament.

Cade Schibler led the offensive barrage by belting a sixth-inning grand slam en route to going 3-for-5 with five RBIs on the day.

A senior, Schibler also had an RBI double in the fifth.

Baylor Brumley had a three-hit day of his own, going 3-for-6 with RBI singles in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Bucks (4-9) avenged a 4-0 loss to the Tigers back on Wednesday with Friday's victory.

Smackover led 7-6 after five innings of play, but they extended their lead with five runs in the sixth with four coming on Schibler's aforementi­oned grand slam.

Charleston answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to close within 12-10, but the Bucks broke the game open with an eight-run seventh inning.

Nick Impson, who drove in three runs, had a tworun single in the frame, and Alex Burris drove in a run with a base hit in the seventh to collect his second RBI of the day.

Noah Wilson, who was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, also had an RBI single in the seventh.

Josh Saulsbury went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including an RBI double in the second, while Cody Smith was 2-for-5.

Tucker Evans finished 1-for-2 with an RBI in the win.

Evans was also the winning pitcher for the Bucks.

In five-plus innings of work, Evans allowed 10 runs, but only one run was earned. He gave up eight hits, hit three batters, walked two and struck out eight.

Smith pitched the last two innings, allowing four runs with only two being earned. He allowed six hits, didn't issue an walks, hit one batter and struck out one.
