Lady Bucks, Crawford post 7-4 victory at Hamburg

HAMBURG - Abby Crawford struck out nine batters and drove in a pair of runs Monday as Smackover won at Hamburg 7-4. The Lady Bucks improved to 10-5 on the season and travel to Warren today.

Crawford surrendere­d just one hit in the game and that came in the first inning. The junior walked four and gave up just one earned run in seven innings.

Smackover scored three runs in the first. Karli Goocher and Reagan Richardson both singled. After Goocher was caught stealing, Crawford reached on an error. Lexi Gilbert followed with a two-run triple. Lydia Pullin plated courtesy runner Maddie Dees with a single.

The Lady Lions scored three unearned runs in the first and took the lead with a run in the second inning.

Smackover scored a run in the third when Richardson doubled and scored on Gilbert’s RBI single.

The Lady Bucks took the lead with a three-run fourth. Vanessa Lofton, Karis Robinson and Sabrina Estridge all singled to load the bases. Goocher singled in a run before Crawford drove in two with a double.

Offensivel­y, Goocher, Richardson, Gilbert, Pullin, Lofton and Robinson all had two hits. Gilbert had three RBI.

DeQueen 11, El Dorado 0

DEQUEEN - The Lady Wildcats were victims of a one-hit shutout Monday at DeQueen. The game, originally scheduled for today, was moved up a day in anticipati­on of possible storms.

Grace Murry was 1-for-2 and had El Dorado’s lone hit. Ava Dunn was hit by a pitch and reached base.

Grace Hargett started in the circle and gave up eight runs on six walks, two hit batters in three innings. Larran Simmons pitched two innings and gave up three runs.
