City Reports

• On April 6, a woman reported an unauthorized charge of $5,015.43 to her debit card. The woman said she learned of the charge when she attempted to use her card, and the transaction was declined because her account had been overdrawn. She told police that she made a $10.43 purchase at a local restaurant on April 5, and an employee there said an error occurred when a tip was added to the woman’s receipt. The complainant also said the employee told her that the money had been refunded to her account, and the refund may take several days to clear. The woman noted that she did not add a tip to her receipt.

• A woman told police on April 6 that someone fraudulently amended her account with Verizon. The woman said Verizon representatives informed her that someone had changed the email address on her account and added six cellphones to her plan, boosting her monthly statement to $900. She said the additional cellphones were traced to Georgia and California.

• A woman filed a false incident report on April 5, police said. The woman told officers that a man drew a handgun on another person in an attempt to fight in the 1300 block of West First. Police said a car matching a description that was provided by the woman was leaving the scene when they arrived, and they conducted a traffic stop. The driver told officers that the suspect is his ex-girlfriend, and “she was trying to get him in trouble so he would go to jail.” He said the woman had texted him and told him to “get his gun because she has hers.” He also said the suspect was attempting to stoke tensions between him and another man. He noted that she frequently “calls the police on him.” Police said the man did not have a gun on his person or in his car, and witnesses told officers they did not see anyone with a gun or anyone attempting to fight in the area. Police said the woman called the man while they were speaking with him, and she called several more times after the man verified that she was the initial caller and hung up with her. Police said they located the woman’s car at her residence in the 900 block of North Yocum, but there was no response when they knocked on the door. Police said the car had been moved when they returned later.

• A woman told police on April 4 that her husband struck her in the face and scratched her arms while she was driving. The woman said she pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store in the area of Junction C ity Road and Lorene, ran inside and called 911. She said her husband got into a friend’s vehicle that was already in the parking lot when they arrived and left the area, adding that he took the keys to her vehicle. Police said the right side of the woman’s face was red with some swelling, her left arm was scratched and there were some small cuts on her right hand. Police noted that the suspect was previously convicted of domestic battery, third-degree. A police report did not indicate if the woman was the victim in the previous conviction.

• On April 4, a woman told officers that someone stole $40 cash, a debit card and electronic benefits transfer card from her wallet at Walmart Supercenter, 2730 N. West Ave. The woman said her baby was playing with the wallet while she was shopping inside the store, and she believes the infant dropped the wallet at some point. The woman said she was later paged by the Customer Service Department, where employees told her that another customer had found the wallet and gave it to employees.

• On April 1, a man told police that his exwife had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The woman told officers that on March 31, she and the suspect drove to a wooded area off Moro Bay Highway, just east of El Dorado. She said she fell asleep and was awakened by him striking her in the face and upper body with his fists. Police said the woman’s eyes were purple and nearly swollen shut, and she had bruises on her arms and left shoulder. She told officers that the suspect refused her requests to take her to the hospital, and he told her he would harm her and her children if she called police. She said a mutual friend told the suspect to take her back to her residence at approximately 1 a.m. on April 1. Another friend later told officers that the woman sought treatment at Medical Center of South Arkansas, and she sustained a broken nose, broken left jaw, and fractured, left orbital socket. Police said they were unable to locate the suspect.

• A woman told police on March 31 that someone broke into her residence in the 300 block of West Cedar and stole a laptop computer, battery charger, a video game system, approximately seven video games and a portable projector, to which she connected her cellphone.
