Southern Arkansas remains at No. 5; Arkansas Tech joins poll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With just three weekends left in the Division II Softball regular season, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its weekly Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll and two slight changes occurred in the poll's Top 10.
For Southern Arkansas, the program held firm to its highest ranking of the 2018 season and the program's highest since March of 2017 as it checked into the No. 5 slot nationally for the second-consecutive week.
The Lady Muleriders (38-4, 27-3 GAC) held onto the top ranking in the Central Region for the fourth straight week and are one of five teams in the nation that have won at least 35 games so far this season.
New to this week's poll is Arkansas Tech (31-11), who enters the Top 25 for the first time this season at No. 19.
Central Region involvement in the poll taking place behind the Golden Suns includes Augustana (26-8), who checks in at No. 21 overall.
Colorado Mesa (34-0) remained the nation's top ranked team for the fifth-straight week after receiving all 16 first place votes and the maximum 400 points.
North Georgia (43-2) remained No. 2, while Chico State (35-3) held firm at No. 3.
The Lady Muleriders have won eight straight games and are in the middle of a ten-game home stand.
The action at Dawson Field continues this weekend, as Southern Arkansas welcomes in Harding for a four-game Great American Conference series.
The series begins Friday, April 13, with a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
