City Arrests

• Terrance R. Nelson, 39, of Junction City, was arrested April 13 on a warrant for absconding. Nelson was taken into custody after police responded to a report of a shoplifter at JCPenney, 1845 N. West Ave. Police said they made contact with Nelson as he was exiting the business and arrested him on the warrant. Nelson was also banned from JCPenney.

• Antonio J. Oliver, 36, of 427 Liberty, was arrested April 12 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for absconding and for obstructio­n of government­al operations. An officer working off-duty security at Mac’s Fresh Market, 511 N. West Ave., reported seeing Oliver steal an item from a counter. The officer said Oliver removed a lighter from his pocket when she approached him, and he provided a false name. The officer said Nelson’s identity was confirmed the following day in the Union County Jail.

• Jaylan K. McMurrian, 21, of 206 Oakhurst Blvd., Apt. 204, was arrested March 12 for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug parapherna­lia. Police said they conducted a traffic stop after spotting a car with broken taillight in the area of Hillsboro and Nelson. Police also said they smelled marijuana, noting that the odor grew stronger when the driver lowered the driver’s side window. During the traffic stop, McMurrian admitted there was marijuana inside the vehicle, and police said they recovered 27 grams of marijuana and digital scales from the vehicle.
