Camp Fire El Dorado sets annual Day Camp dates

Camp Fire El Dorado will hold its annual Day Camp from May 29– June 1.

Day Camp is open to anyone who has completed kindergart­en through the sixth grade. This year’s theme is “The Mighty Jungle” and will be held at Camp Wotapi in Parkers Chapel. Campers will enjoy campsite cooking, crafts, hiking, BB guns, archery and games.

Camp will be held each day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost for registrati­on is $80 per camper or $85 if paid online, which includes snacks, lunch each day, craft supplies, a T-shirt and other program related expenses.

Participan­ts are asked to register as soon as possible, as space is limited. Forms are available at campfireel­dorado.org or the Camp Fire Office at 915 Arkansas. For more informatio­n, contact the Camp Fire Office at 862-3463.

Smackover to hold special meeting today on street aid

The city of Smackover will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. today on street aid at the council room of the Smackover Municipal Building, 807 Broadway.

LANXESS to host Earth Day events for area fourth-graders

LANXESS is sponsoring an event Thursday and Friday in recognitio­n of Earth Day, which will be Sunday.

The two-day event at the South Arkansas Arboretum (or the Boys & Girls Club, depending on weather) will feature more than 500 fourth-graders from Union County learning about the natural resources located in the Smackover Limestone brine reserve and how those resources are made into products.
