Series of unfortunate events

-

My turkey season ended with me keeping both of my turkey tags.

I came so close to filling one the last couple of days of the season but it is hard to get around interference beyond your control.

I had a nice bird coming to me after calling him from about 350 yards away.

I got him to cross a creek and he was so close that I had already popped the safety on my shotgun with him gobbling his head off just 45 yards away.

If he had come just 12 more yards, I would have seen his red head.

With some bushes and a blackberry thicket dividing us, the sound of a four-wheeler rolling through at 7:15 a.m. sent the gobbler running the opposite direction.

I never heard him say a word the rest of the day. It is hard to con a spooked gobbler into gobbling again.

I just hope I can get another chance next year.

With turkey season over, it is time to get the fishing poles out and head to the water. I am ready to take Cooper to our pond so he can tangle with a few bream and bass.

Hopefully, we can go to the river or to one of our favorite backroad fishing holes and find some catfish for him to fight.

I love watching his face light up when his cork goes under.

With the weather showing chances of more cold spells heading our way, I hope the warm weather comes to stay so that the bream will bite.

I hope everyone had a good turkey season, and I hope you can spend some family time fishing.

We are going to finish up tee-ball with Cooper in a few weeks followed by his kindergarten graduation at the end of May.

I can't believe he is almost finished with kindergarten.

My little man is growing up so fast. Questions? Comments? Pictures? Send them to katiemeade25@gmail.com.
