Proclamati­on for Foster Care Awareness Day to be presented

Union County Judge Mike Loftin will be reading a proclamati­on at noon Wednesday declaring the day as Foster Care Awareness Day.

The proclamati­on, which will be read on the east side of the Union County Courthouse, is part of the #WearBlueMa­y2 campaign that is meant to raise awareness and support for for those affected by foster care.

El Dorado Water Utilities office to close early Monday

The payment office at El Dorado Water Utilities will close at 2:30 p.m. Monday to begin software update to the billing and collecting system.

Payments on customer accounts can be dropped in the night deposit box at the drive-thru. Payments cannot be made on the website until the upgrade is complete.

The payment office will re-open Tuesday morning.

TOUCH Coalition to meet Tuesday

The next meeting of the TOUCH Coalition will be held on Tuesday, with guest speaker Michael Evans, pharmacist at Walgreens, who will share the latest informatio­n on Narcan, an opioid overdose reversing drug.

Lunch, which costs $5, will be served from 11:30 a.m. until noon for those who RSVP by noon on Monday. To RSVP, contact Jill Weinschke at 870-862-2813.

Camp Lotsafun day camp registrati­on begins

Registrati­on for Camp Lotsafun, a day camp at South Arkansas Community College for students currently in grades first through sixth, is open.

The camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through the month of June at the college’s Center for Workforce Developmen­t.

The year’s camp allows campers to explore a different career area each week. Week one will focus on health sciences; two will be on public service; three will be the arts and four will be on agricultur­e and technical careers. Campers may enroll for any or all weeks of the camp.

Lunch is provided for the campers each day. During Time to Shine Thursdays each week, parents and guardians are encouraged to attend during the lunch break to see projects that the campers have been working on.

The cost for attendance per week is $72. There also is a one-time $30 supply fee.

There also are a limited number of four-week passes available until May 4 for a total of $260 in addition to the $30 supply fee.

Poll worker training to be held today

Anyone interested in working the polls this election cycle can attend training at 3 p.m. today on the second floor of the Union County Courthouse.
