- By Jason Avery News-Times Staff

Texarkana scored six runs in the seventh inning to overcome a 3-0 deficit and stun El Dorado 6-5 Thursday at the El Dorado-Union County Recreation Complex.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to take the lead, but the Razorbacks roared back in the seventh, registering five straight hits to open the frame.

Austin Nix drove in a run with a double and Drake Browning had an RBI single.

The tying run scored on an error.

Later with the bases loaded and one out, Dylan Adcock crushed an apparent grand slam home run to give a Texarkana a 7-3.

But on appeal, Adcock was ruled out for missing home plate, and the score remained at 6-3.

The Wildcats nearly pulled off a comeback of their own in the bottom of the seventh.

Leighton Turbeville led off with a single and took second on a wild pitch.

Consecutive walks to Jacob Boshears and Noah Gaul loaded the bases.

Micah Haney then hit a ground ball to shortstop that had the making of being turned into a double play, but the throw to the plate was misplayed for an error, allowing two runs to score to pull the Wildcats within a run.

With runners now at second and third and nobody out, the Wildcats were in business to complete their comeback, but Browning closed the door.

The right-hander retired Chase Webb on a popup to third for the inning's first out. Brennan Smith was then intentionally walked to load the bases, but Browning fanned pinch hitter Derek Jobe and Daniel Johnson to end the game.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the fifth.

Reed Stone, who entered the game as a courtesy runner after Jared Rhodes walked, scored on a wild pitch after stealing second and taking third on a throwing error.

Johnson scored the Wildcats' second run on Jacob Boshears' sacrifice fly.

Haney scored the Wildcats' run in the sixth on a wild pitch.

El Dorado will host Russellville in the opening round of the 6A West Conference Tournament Saturday.

The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
