Lady Dragons blank Fordyce
JUNCTION CITY Karis Robinson tossed a three-inning no-hitter Friday as Smackover blanked Fordyce 15-0 in the semifinals of the 3A-8 District Softball Tournament. The Lady Bucks improved to 24-6 on the season and will play in the championship game today at 2 p.m.
Smackover pounded out 11 hits in three innings, getting home runs from Lydia Pullin and Lexie
Gilbert.
The Lady
Bucks scored 10 runs in the first and five in the third, ending the game on Gilbert’s walk-off tworun homer. Gilbert went 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer and four RBI.
Pullin was 2-for-2, including a two-run homer in the first. Reagan Richardson was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Robinson was 2-for-2 and Abby Crawford had a double with two RBI.
In the circle, Robinson struck out three, walked one and hit one batter.
EL DORADO 4, TEXARKANA 3
Grace Hargett survived a seventh-inning rally to finish with a two-hitter, as El Dorado finished the regular season with a 4-3 win over Texarkana in Class 5A-6A District 6 play at the El Dorado-Union County Recreation Complex Thursday.
The Lady Wildcats, who
finished the regular season with a 15-11 record, will play at Benton in the opening round of the 6A West Conference Tournament today at noon.
Trailing 1-0 after the visitors scored a run in the first, The Lady Wildcats tied the game with a run in the third.
Grace Murry singled and was able to score on a throwing error while racing towards third base on Payton Scarlett’s sacrifice bunt.
El Dorado took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth.
Taylor Mayo, who was 2-for-3, led off with a triple.
Sydni Crisalli was then hit by a pitch, and the Lady Wildcats took the lead when Mayo scored on Ava Dunn’s bunt to make it 2-1.
Murry, one of three players with two hits in the win, drove in a run with a base hit, and Allyson Silmon followed with an RBI double to make it 4-1.
Texarkana scored twice in the seventh, but Hargett was able close the door and give El Dorado some momentum going into the postseason.
Murry went 2-for-4, while Hargett helped her cause by going 2-for-3.
Larran Simmons, Lea Jones and Julianne Spencer had one hit apiece for El Dorado.
In beating Texarkana, Hargett struck out nine and walked seven.
