POYEN - Thus far, the first two days of the regional tournament have been the Carson Worthey and Tyler Martin Show for Parkers Chapel.

A day after hitting two home runs, Worthey went the distance with a three-hitter, and Martin ran his RBI total in the tournament to six, as Parkers Chapel rolled to a 9-1 win over Magnet Cove in the semifinals of the 2A South Regional Tournament Friday.

The win sends the Trojans (247), the 7-2A East’s No. 1 seed, into this afternoon’s regional final against Spring Hill, the 7-2A East’s No. 2 seed, who downed Rison to reach the championship game.

Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. The victory also gives the Trojans a first-round bye at next week’s state tournament.

The Trojans and Bears split their two games during the regular season with the Bears snapping the Trojans’ 10-game winning streak with a 7-5 home victory two weeks ago.

On Friday, Martin was the winning pitcher and drove in three runs. Against the Panthers, Martin went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

The sophomore had singles in the second, third and sixth innings with a double in the fourth.
