RUSSELLVILLE - El Dorado’s Breya Clark accounted for 39.5 points Thursday in the 6A State Track & Field Championships. As a team, the Lady Wildcats scored 49 points and finished seventh.

Devunte Kidd led the Wildcats to a fifth place showing in the boys division.

“Breya stepped up in a big way on the biggest stage of the year,” said El Dorado coach John Koonce. “She didn’t have a performance that she was happy with in conference but she turned around this week and exceeded all expectations.

She is loaded down with a lot of events that are right next to each other and it isn’t easy to run from event to event and perform at the highest level but she puts her head down and does what needs to be done. By getting high point, she showed that she is the most versatile female athlete in 6A.”

LaDiamond Maker chipped in with a fourth place showing in the high jump.

Kidd led the Wildcats by winning the boys long jump with a leap of 22-04.75. He was second in the 100. Chris Newton was third in the triple jump and sixth in both the high jump and 300 hurdles.
