#FlashSaleFriday to sell two tickets for $50 for Power of the Purse fundraiser
A new promotion will offer a Mother’s Day special to purchase tickets Friday for the upcoming Power of the Purse fundraiser for the Union County Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
“Treat Mom to a fun evening out and, at the same time, support early childhood reading,” said Alexis Alexander, executive director of the United Way of Union County and coordinator of the event and the local Imagination Library.
#FlashSaleFriday tickets will be offered at the price of two for $50, and must be purchased at the United Way office, 200 N. Jefferson, suite 103, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. After the “Mom and Me” special, tickets will be available for $35 each and $40 on the day of the event.
The fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. June 7 at The Granite Club and will include a silent auction featuring designer purses, a fashion show from local merchants, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and entertainment by Amy Allen. A purse raffle – at $5 a chance – is also being held to win a Razorback red Michael Kors tote bag and the winner will be announced at the event.
Through the Union County Dolly Parton Imagination Library, free books are sent to Union County children – an age appropriate book once a month until the child reaches five years old.
“Thanks to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the United Way of Union County,
children under the age of five years can now have access to their own library where a book is mailed to each enrolled child every month,” Alexander said. “There are currently 1,300 children enrolled in the program and another 1,600 who have graduated out. To continue enrolling children, we must raise funds to continue to advance the program.”
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit United Way of Union County’s early literacy initiative – the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The book program is offered to families at no cost. Parents can register their eligible children online at www.imaginationlibrary.com.
