West Side Christian School to host fundraiser on May 24

West Side Christian School will be selling pulled pork sandwich bag lunches on May 24.

All sacks include: jumbo pulled pork sandwich, chips and dessert. Cost is $8 and people are asked to pay in advance. All proceeds will go toward education.

Those who buy 10 or more plates can have their food delivered. Delivery is from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and pick up is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Barton Library and Genealogic­al Society to host informal discussion Saturday

Genealogic­al Society will host an informal discussion on genetic genealogy research on Saturday.

Attendees can bring their DNA questions to ask guest speaker J.G. Jones, genetic genealogis­t, from Shreveport. Jones will be at the Barton Library at 2 p.m. Saturday to share his own genetic genealogy research and help with others DNA research.

This event is free and open to the public.

Ribbon cutting to be held Thursday

The El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting for Palmer’s Place at the El Dorado Golf and Country Club, 101 Shady Side St., El Dorado, at noon Thursday.

Strong-Huttig School Board meeting changed to May 17

The Strong-Huttig School Board meeting has been changed from Monday to 6 p.m. May 17 in the high school library.
