Byron Lane Reeves, 86, of El Dorado, Arkansas, died on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

He was born September 5, 1931 in Heflin, Louisiana to Sam Reeves and Lilla Madden Reeves. Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was his best friend and love of his life for 60 years, Dru White Reeves; a son, Thomas Lane Reeves, and a daughter, Ellen Elizabeth Reeves Dyck; and two brothers, Aubrey Reeves and Cleo Reeves. He is survived by two daughters, Patty Reeves Sewell, and her husband, Jean, of El Dorado, and Amanda Reeves Mosley and her husband, Scott, of Lancaster, South Carolina. Surviving grandchild­ren are Leah Sewell Lee and her husband, Robert; Asa Sewell and his wife, Danielle; Byron Tyler Pierot and his wife, Mary Kate; and Mary Katherine Pierot. He has 5 great grandchild­ren, Asa Sewell, Jr.; Ava, Crewson, Norah and Etta Lee.

Mr. Reeves was an employee of Gulf Oil Corporatio­n for 20 years before owning his business of Byron Reeves Trucking Company until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Caledonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He found great joy in baseball, especially the Yankees, and being with his family. He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, his humbleness and love for Jesus Christ, whom he thanked for each day of his life.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Martina Johnson and all the staff of Life Touch Hospice who took such good care of him.

His daughters also want to extend special recognitio­n and appreciati­on to Mary Henderson, his caregiver and friend, and to his granddaugh­ter, Leah Sewell Lee, for their selfless care and devotion to Daddy. Your help meant more than words can describe.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Lee and Bro. Sam Whitlow officiatin­g. A graveside service for his family and friends of Heflin, Louisiana, will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Bistineau Baptist Church Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana.
