Thurkill-Brown Wedding

Amanda Marie Thurkill, of El Dorado, will be united in holy matrimony with Joshua Dean Brown, of Smackover, at 2 p.m. June 2 at the Mount Union Baptist Church in

El Dorado with Pastor John Ayres officiatin­g.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Sonya Sellers Thurkill and the late Jeffrey Thurkill, of El Dorado. She attended

Junction City High School where she graduated in 2009.

She also earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from

Southern Arkansas University in 2012 and continued her education with an MS in mental health and clinical counseling, and MED in school counseling. She works as a middle school social studies teacher. She will be attended by her sister Kayla Cannady, of Jemison, Alabama, as her matron of honor, and Michele Armand, of Junction City,

Cammie Coker, of New York, New York, and Charli Blair, of Smackover, as her bridesmaid­s.

The groom-elect is the son of Rhonda Pumphrey Brown and Billy Brown, of Smackover. He graduated from Smackover High School in 2011. He is a welder. His best man will be Dylan Burton of Dallas, Texas, and groomsmen will be Josh Blair, of Smackover, Josh Burton, of Smackover, and Bradley Henderson of Lincoln, Nebraska. The flower girls for the wedding will be their nieces: Kinsey Cannady, daughter of Kayla and Nick Cannady, of Jemison, Alabama, and Isabella Hartsell, daughter of Jessica and David Harsell, of El Dorado. Ushers will be Nick Cannady, the bride’s brother-in-law, and Joey Jackson, a family friend.

A rehearsal dinner will be hosted by family on June 1 at Mount Union Baptist Church.

A reception will follow the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the church.
