Students receive scholarshi­ps to SouthArk

Megan Barker, a senior at El Dorado High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The daughter of Robyn Barker of Junction City is a member of Beta Club, Junior Service League, Key Club, the varsity tennis team and National Honor Society.

Sky Faust, a senior at Smackover High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

She is the co-captain of the flag line in the marching band.

Kaitlyn Goodwin, a senior at Smackover High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The daughter of Damon and Kelly Goodwin of Norphlet is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Anchor Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish National Honor Society, Literati, varsity basketball team, golf team, track and field team and HOSA-Future Health Profession­als. She also received the President’s Education Award for Outstandin­g Academic Achievemen­t in 2016 and 2017.

Hannah Harbour, a senior homeschool­ed student, has accepted a President’s Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

She is the daughter of Cliff and Rona Harbour of El Dorado.

Keely Marsh, a senior at Junction City High School, has accepted a SkillsUSA Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The daughter of Wes and Dana Marsh of Junction City is a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council and SkillsUSA.

Tyson Pace, a senior at Strong High School, has accepted a Valedictor­ian-Salutatori­an Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The son of Kristal Pace of Strong is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Beta Club, Gifted and Talented and Environmen­tal and Spatial Technology. He was selected as All-Area in football in 2014.

Lucinda Ramos, a 2018 graduate of Hampton High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

In high school she was a member of Beta, Environmen­tal and Spatial Technology and the band. She is the daughter of Cynthia Ramos of Hampton.

Shelby Rayborn, a senior at Emerson High School, has accepted a President’s Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The daughter of Liz Rayborn is a member of Future Farmers of America; Future Business Leaders of America; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and the Science and Beta Clubs.

Savannah Slaughter, a senior at Parkers Chapel High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The daughter of Steve and Melissa Slaughter is a member of Beta Club and Student Council, and the softball, basketball, track and field and cross country teams. She also is a member of Camp Fire.

Allison Snider, a senior at Parkers Chapel High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The daughter of Carolyn Snider is a member of Beta Club.

Taylor Young, a senior at Emerson High School, has accepted an Island Memorial Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College in the fall.

The daughter of Shelby Bailey of Emerson is a member of the Science Club; Future Business Leaders of America; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; Beta Club; the school’s blood-drive committee; and the softball team.

The scholarshi­p is funded through the SouthArk Foundation.

Laken Loomis of Smackover High School has accepted an Albert W. Loftin Scholarshi­p. She is the daughter of Vicki Loomis of Norphlet, and is a member of the Art Club and Spanish Club.

Jalen Wesley of Camden Fairview High School has accepted a President’s Scholarshi­p. He is the son of Sylvia Bradford of Camden, and is a member of Ascend, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars and National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.

Ra’Veon Ward of Strong High School has accepted a Valedictor­ian-Salutatori­an Scholarshi­p. She is the daughter of Sharee Ward and a member of the softball, basketball and track and field teams; the cheerleadi­ng squad; and Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America and Environmen­tal and Spatial Technology. She also was a delegate to Arkansas Girls’ State.

Kirsten Thurman, a senior at Crossett High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

She is the daughter of Daryl Thurman and Janice Thurman, both of Crossett, and is a member of the track and field, tennis and basketball teams; Key Club; National Honor Society; and Beta Club.

Jessica Gonzalez Hurtado of Hermitage, a practical nursing major at South Arkansas

Community College, has accepted a Dr. Kenneth Bridges Scholarshi­p to attend the school this fall.

She is a 2016 graduate of Robertsdal­e (Alabama) High School.

The scholarshi­p is funded through the SouthArk Foundation.

Olivia Voss, a 2018 graduate of West Side Christian School, has accepted a President’s Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College in the fall.

The daughter of Lisa and David Voss of El Dorado was a member of the yearbook staff, varsity basketball team and praise band at West Side. She was vice president of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society.

Anna Katherine Wilson, a 2018 graduate of Hampton High School, has accepted a Freshman Recognitio­n Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College in the fall.

The daughter of Brooke and Troy Wilson of Hampton was a member of Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Bulldog Buddies, Women of Wisdom, Drama Club and Student Council at HHS.

Carmen Vazquez, a 2018 graduate of El Dorado High School, has accepted an Albert W. Loftin Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

She is the daughter of Jesus A. Cervantes of El Dorado.

Colby Green, a 2018 graduate of D’Arbonne Woods Charter School, has accepted an E.W. Pickering Endowed Scholarshi­p to attend South Arkansas Community College this fall.

The son of Amy and Greg Green of Marion, Louisiana, was a member of the football and golf teams and Beta Club in high school.

The scholarshi­p is funded through the SouthArk Foundation.
