Funeral for James Allen Daniels, 81, of El Dorado, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Dobson officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

Obituaries BEN BYRD

Ben Byrd, 70, of Smackover, passed away, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born September 13, 1947 to William and Sally Fred Brown

H e attended Castle Heights Military Academy from 1962-1963, and graduated from Smackover High School in 1965. Ben was a member of the Air Force from January 19, 1967-October 24, 1972, and as the Owner of Ben's Harley Davidson/ARKLA. Ben also owned Trinity Oil Company, and was the Associate Pastor of Louann Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Ellen Deal Byrd of Smackover; seven children, Terri Brewer of Hampton, Christi Proffitt (Michael) of Camden, Joshua Byrd (Jennifer) of McNeil, Kathryn Byrd of Smackover, Inga Vituka (Edgar) of Key West, FL, Cody Johnson of Camden, Alexia Johnson of Hope; seven grandchild­ren, Jessica, Matthew, John, Seth, Kara, Abbey, Averi; three great grandchild­ren, Layla, Dallas, Aleena; and his faithful companions, Bear, Sweet Pea, Lily, and Lil Mama. He was a loving father, a wonderful husband, and a faithful friend.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Young's.

SKOT HOLMES

Louie “Skot” Holmes age 39 of El Dorado, passed away early Friday, June 15, 2018 near Texarkana, AR, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Scott was born September 3, 1978 in El Dorado to Peggy Sue Strickland Holmes and Randy L. Holmes. Scott was a 1997 graduate of Parkers Chapel High School and went on to attend SAU in Magnolia following high school. Although he was a skilled carpenter by trade, most people knew him as a talented artist and competitiv­e skateboard­er. Scott had a big heart, especially for his family and his cat companions, which he called his

“girls”. He will forever remain in our hearts as we remember how special he really was.

He was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts, Clarence and Ophelia Strickland; his grandfathe­r, Louie L. Holmes; one Uncle, Ricky Holmes and one Aunt, Laura Holmes.

Survivors include; his mother, Peggy Holmes; his father, Randy Holmes; his grandmothe­r, Marie Holmes; one sister, Suzanne Bryant; Aunt and Uncle, Beth and James Perry, along with several nieces and cousins, whom will all miss him dearly.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm with Bro. Chuck Bennett officiatin­g.

Cremation services were provided by Bailey Funeral Home.

WILLARD THURMON

Willard Amason Thurmon, 95, of El Dorado, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado. He was born August 12, 1922, to Oscar William and Lizzie Lou Simmons Thurmon in Summerfiel­d, LA.

He was a retired carpenter and bricklayer, the Financial Secretary for Union Local Bricklayer­s Internatio­nal Arkansas for 40 years, and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife of 60 years, Gloria Thurmon; son, David Michael Thurmon; and brother, James Hugh Thurmon.

Survivors include his son, John Marshall Thurmon and his wife, Lynn of El Dorado; granddaugh­ter, Courtney Machen; two grandsons, Jeremiah Thurmon, Joshua Thurmon; and four great grandchild­ren, Abigail Machen, Justin Machen, Alexis Machen, and Catalina Thurmon.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Young's.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at Hebron Cemetery near Summerfiel­d, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
