Johnnie Ware, co-director of Area 15 Special Olympics, will be the guest speaker when the Kiwanis Club meets at noon on Wednesday. Ware is employed as a Medicaid Waiver Direct Care Supervisor at Magnolia Specialize­d Services. She has worked for MSS for 25 years in addition to her volunteer work with Special Olympics. She attended Southern Arkansas University, and taught school before taking her present job.

Joining Ware on Wednesday will be three Special Olympics athletes and an instructor in the MSS day program.

••• Christophe­r Wasson will be the guest speaker when the Rotary Club meets at noon on Monday. Wasson was raised in El Dorado and is proud to call El Dorado his home. He said he came to know the Lord in May of 1997, and “my new life began then.”

Wasson graduated from Old Union High School in 2000, received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from SAU Magnolia in 2005 and a MBA from LA Tech in 2007.

He worked for CenterPoin­t Energy in Shreveport, LA as a Measuremen­t Analyst from 2007 until 2013. During this time, he met his wife, Jennifer Wasson.

They moved to Hot Springs in 2013 where he began his career with Entergy Arkansas as an Engineerin­g Associate. During their time in Hot Springs, he had the privilege of serving as a leader in the Crossgate Student Ministry and as President of the Diamondhea­d POA. In November of 2016, God blessed them with Ivy Claire Wasson.

In January of 2018, the Wassons moved to El Dorado. Wasson now serves as the Customer Service Representa­tive for Entergy Arkansas in El Dorado, Camden and Magnolia.
