Union County standouts honored as All-Stars

A plethora of standouts from Union County will get the opportunit­y to partake in the Arkansas High School Coaches Associatio­n All-Star Games, which get underway today and continue Saturday in Conway.

Luis Torres and Meredith Coan will represent El Dorado's soccer teams for one last performanc­e today, while El Dorado's Darius Holly and Mon-Trae Marshall are members of the West All-Stars for Saturday's football game.

In addition to the quartet of El Dorado standouts, three cheerleade­rs will also participat­e in the festivitie­s as members of the East All-Stars cheer squad.

Smackover's Stormy Anders, who was also an All-State selection, as well as Junction City's Alyssa Anderson and Morgan Butler were tabbed as All-Stars.

In aiding the Lady Wildcats to the state quarterfin­als, Coan anchored the defense and earned All-Conference honors.

She was the recipient of the team's leadership award and made 67 starts during her career.

Torres, a striker for the Wildcats, was one of the team's most dangerous weapons.

Overall, Torres scored 23 goals for the Wildcats during the 2018 season.

On the gridiron, Holly earned All-State honors as the Wildcats' quarterbac­k.

He completed 123-of-190 passes for 2,308 yards with 22 touchdowns and just five intercepti­ons. He also rushed for 430 yards and eight touchdowns.

While Holly engineered the offense, Marshall was the ringleader of the Wildcats' defense.

A linebacker, Marshall led the team with 122 tackles, including two sacks with two intercepti­ons. Marshall, who will play collegiate­ly at Henderson State, returned one of those intercepti­ons for a touchdown.

Like Holly, Marshall was an All-State selection.

Today, the All-Star Games for baseball, softball, girls soccer, boys soccer and volleyball will be held. On Saturday, the All-Star Games for girls and boys basketball along with football will take place.

All games are being held at Central Arkansas.
