County Records

• On June 16, a man reported that a former tenant on his property had taken some of his belongings when the tenant moved out. The man said he had asked the former tenant for help repairing two desktop computers, a 2000 watt amplifier and a radio, but that he told the tenant to leave the items when he moved out. The man also reported that a tackle box and four Zebco fishing reels were missing from his boat trailer. The man messaged the former tenant asking for his things back and was met with a threatenin­g response. The man said the tenant called back later and threatened to burn the man’s house down and kill him. The responding officer told the man to cease contact with the former tenant, go to Victim’s Assistance to file charges for the theft and get a restrainin­g order against the former tenant.

• On June 17, a man reported that a window air conditioni­ng unit had been stolen from his property. He believed that someone had attempted to steal a second AC unit as well, since it was hanging halfway out of a window.

• On June 19, a man reported a theft at his home. He said that a man he previously worked with had showed up several days prior at his home and asked for help with a broken down vehicle. The complainan­t said that the man asked questions about his work hours as they worked on the vehicle. The next day, the complainan­t found that a storage shed in his yard had been broken into. The day he called the police, the complainan­t said that when he arrived home from work, the former coworker was in his yard holding one of his weed eaters. When the man saw the complainan­t, he fled the scene. The complainan­t reported a missing Stihl brush cutter.

County Arrests

• On June 16, Gregory D. Carter, 32, of Junction City,

was charged with driving on a license suspended for DWI, speeding, a fictitious license plate and drinking in public. An officer observed Carter driving at 38 miles per hour in a 30 MPH zone. Upon checking his license plate, the officer saw that the results for a different vehicle came back. When the officer approached the vehicle he could smell alcohol from a partially empty beer can in the car’s floorboard. Carter admitted to driving on a suspended license and drinking while driving at the scene. Officers searched the vehicle and found $1300 in counterfei­t cash.

• On June 16, Marvin Hopson, 36, of Henderson, Texas, was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, simultaneo­us possession of drugs and a firearm, possession of a firearm by certain persons, resisting arrest, fleeing on foot and battery on a police officer. An officer observed a motorcycle that he recognized as having been involved in a high-speed chase in Louisiana. When the officer determined that the man fit the descriptio­n of the suspect in the chase, he called for backup and told the suspect that he was being detained. Hopson attempted to start his motorcycle to flee, and a physical altercatio­n broke out. The officer was able to wrest the motorcycle keys from the suspect, who then attempted to flee on foot. The suspect was carrying a backpack, which he tried to ditch several times throughout the pursuit. The suspect twice tried to throw his backpack away, but, realizing the officer saw where he tried to hide it, took the backpack back and continued trying to flee. At that time, backup arrived and took Hopson into custody. In a search of his backpack, officers found a Ziploc bag containing several individual bags of marijuana, three handguns, $1,120 in cash, an extended 9mm magazine and ammunition. The officer sustained laceration­s to his hands and arms.

• On June 17, William B. Bowditch, 49, of Norphlet was arrested for driving while intoxicate­d and leaving the scene of an accident. An officer arrived at the scene of a single vehicle accident, where he met a witness who said he had given the driver of the vehicle a ride home. The witness showed the officer where he took the man and the officer went to investigat­e. There, he met Bowditch standing in his yard. Bowditch told the officer that another man had been driving and had fled after the wreck. The officer noted that the suspect was unsteady on his feet and smelled like intoxicant­s. Bowditch admitted to driving the vehicle after speaking with the officer, then agreed to perform several field sobriety tests, which he proceeded to fail. At that point the suspect was arrested.

• On June 17, Joshua D. Pope, 35, of El Dorado, was arrested for aggravated assault and domestic battery in the third degree. The suspect’s wife said that he asked her to come home and that when she did he immediatel­y attacked her, hitting her in the head and with a box fan. The wife escaped the home with her child and then two others that were inside the home followed her outside. The man that was inside the house cut himself with a box cutter and told her that she would be the one going to jail. The two people that were inside the house told officers that the wife was the one to instigate the fight. The wife told officers that she believed her husband, the suspect, was still inside the home and pointed them to a crawl space in the bathroom. Officers found him there and arrested him. The two people that were also in the house were also charged with obstructin­g government­al operations.

• On June 17, Thomas O. Holland, 47, of El Dorado, was arrested on two counts of possession of a firearm by certain persons. Holland was previously convicted of a felony in Louisiana.

• On June 18, Shaneque S. Jamerson, 26, of Smackover, was arrested for traffickin­g cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug parapherna­lia and theft by receiving.

• On June 19, Chino Lovett, 21, of El Dorado, was arrested for theft by receiving, possession of marijuana, hydrocodon­e and carisoprod­ol and simultaneo­us possession of drugs and a firearm. An officer observed Lovett sitting alone in his vehicle and the officer smelled marijuana. He approached the vehicle and the suspect got out and met him. He admitted to having been smoking marijuana in the car, but told the officer that the joint he was smoking was the only marijuana in the car. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a bag of marijuana, two pill bottles with narcotics and a stolen handgun. The officer also found $3,034 in cash in the suspect’s pocket.
