We have it. The Best Summer Ever. Well, we have the best ideas for the Best Summer Ever.

It starts with the Calendar of Events, published by the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism and when you throw in the Travel Guide and the Adventure Guide, you will be able to create your own Best Summer Ever.

All are available at the Welcome Center located at 3315 Junction City Highway, El Dorado.

Published twice a year, the current calendar covers the spring and summer; the new one will come out in September and covers the fall and winter seasons.

Organized by date, the guide also gives you categories such as agritourism, cook-offs, festivals and food events to name just a few of the 20 categories; and there is a location index as well. Since there are about six good weeks before school shopping starts and then schools go back into session, I thought I might let you know about this guide in case you want to plan, or just discover, the Best Summer Ever.

Parks & Tourism also publishes the annual Travel Guide and Adventure Guide as well as the State Park Guide. We have magazines covering our local area as well as the rest of the natural state.

A lot of road-trippers loaded the car and just head out. They often come in the Welcome Center with an area in mind. Others come in with looking for ideas. Join them.
