Oilers knock off Titans

ARKADELPHI­A - The El Dorado Oilers scored three runs in the third inning to overcome a 5-4 deficit en route to a 13-7 win over the Arkansas Titans at the Ravine Showcase Thursday night.

The Oilers jumped out to a 4-0 lead only to see the Titans score five runs in the second to take the lead.

However, the Oilers scored three runs in the third before scoring one in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take control of the game.

Five players had at least two hits in the win for the Oilers.

Reece Griffin went 4-for4 with three doubles, three runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base to lead the Oilers' attack.

The Oilers also had four players with two hits in the win.

Charles Hoof drove in four runs while going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored, while Jacob Boshears collected three RBIs, finishing 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored.

Robbie Roberson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a walk and a stolen base, while Gage Otwell was 2-for3 with two runs scored, a double, a walk and an RBI.

Leighton Turbeville drew three walks while going 1-for-2 with a double, two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Garrett Jeans picked up the win for the Oilers.

Jeans allowed seven runs with five being earned in five innings. He allowed nine hits, walked three and struck out five.

Cade Schibler recorded the save by working two scoreless innings. He struck out one, didn't allow any hits or issue any walks.

The Oilers will finish pool play today with two games.

The Oilers will take on the Monroe (La.) Majors at 2:30 p.m. and the Shreveport (La.) Razorsox at 5 p.m.

The games are being held at Clyde Berry Field at Henderson State.
