Patricia (Patti) Anne Buchanan Dumas, 58, of El Dorado, AR, unexpected­ly left this life on earth to be with her heavenly Father for eternity on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at UAMS.

Patti was born on September 7, 1959 in Worcester, Massachuse­tts. Growing up Patti lived and attended schools in a number of cities in the Northeast including Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Milford and New Canaan, Connecticu­t. She moved from New Canaan to Houston, Texas during her senior high school year and graduated from Cypress Fairbanks in 1977. Patti attended college at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR as a non-traditiona­l student where she graduated with honors with a degree in business in 1995.

Patti was a very selfless, giving and life-loving person who always saw the glass half full. In her youth, she enjoyed swimming, gymnastics, participat­ing in her church youth group, playing the French horn, performing with her dance troupe, ice skating, and playing coed field soccer. Among many service activities she was a candy-striper and volunteere­d for the March of Dimes.

In Houston, following her graduation from high school, Patti managed an ice cream store and later had careers at two internatio­nal energy companies and in risk management for an internatio­nal commercial real estate firm.

On November 18, 1989 Patti married John Dumas and moved to El Dorado, AR which became her home thereafter. Together Patti and John welcomed and raised two beautiful daughters, traveled the world together and enjoyed more than 28 years of love, devotion, challenges, faith and spiritual growth. She enjoyed reading, movies, music, cooking for her family and traveling.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband John and their children Kathryn and Jessica; parents Jim and Ozella Buchanan of Austin, TX; brother Mike and sister-inlaw Myle Pham Buchanan of Austin; sister Mary and brother-in-law Paul Nesbitt of Bellaire, TX; sister Kathleen Buchanan and brother-in-law Geoff Dunlap of Round Rock, TX; sister-in-law Belinda Dumas Myers and brother-in-law Frank Myers of Lufkin TX; brother-in-law Charlie Dumas of Hot Springs, sister in spirit Carolyn Horne (Steve) of Austin; special senior friends Cecil and Betty Kellum and Sue Grimmett of El Dorado; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and devoted friends and neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her grandparen­ts, Helen Gilligan and Raymond Buchanan, and Mary Katherine Crouse and Stephen Porter Stroupe; her great aunt and kindred spirit for whom she was named, Anne Gilligan Murray; her father-in-law Therold Dumas and her mother-inlaw Wilma Dumas; younger brother, Jimmy Buchanan, and nephew Ian Buchanan Nesbitt.

A memorial service for Patti will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Young’s Chapel under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Kelly officiatin­g.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Young’s Chapel.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Hope Landing Inc., 214 Hope Landing, El Dorado, AR 71730 or to any other charity preferred by the donor..
