• Rakebia Q. Daniels, 36, of 314 Georgia, was arrested June 23 for theft of property (auto), theft of property, DWI, driving left of center, driving on a suspended license, no seatbelt and on warrants for fraudulent use of a credit card and theft by receiving. While on routine patrol in the area of Champagnolle and Mosby at 2:40 a.m., police said they noticed a pickup truck traveling south on Mosby with no headlights. Police conducted a traffic stop and noted that the driver, later identified as Daniels, appeared disoriented, her speech was slurred and she had difficulty keeping her eyes open. Police said Daniels admitted smoking K2, synthetic marijuana, shortly before driving and she laughed as they spoke to her. She told officers she did not know how long she had been driving or where she was coming from. Police said Daniels stumbled several times and could not stand on her own while they were placing her under arrest. According to a police report, Daniels was transported to Medical Center of South Arkansas for an evaluation and treatment, and while en route, officers received a report about a stolen vehicle and $160 cash and a cellphone that were inside the vehicle. Due to the report of stolen cash, police said they seized $60 cash that was tucked inside Daniels’ pants. Daniels later told officers that she was at a local motel when a man driving a pickup truck offered her a ride. She said the man drove to a friend’s house, and the pair smoked K2 while sitting inside the truck. Daniels said the man went inside the residence, and when he did not return “in what she thought was a reasonable time,” she drove away in the truck. A man told officers that he was at a friend’s residence in the area of North Miles and Wagner when he heard a loud noise and saw that his truck was gone. Upon completing their investigation, police said they turned the truck over to the man.
