His Voice, His Touch

- Captain Jason Perdieu is corps officer of the Salvation Army of El Dorado. JASON PERDIEU

We have a Dachshund named Dascher who is our pride and joy. He loves to play outside and run, unless it’s raining! He is terrified of rain and storms! When Elyshia and I were first married we lived in the church apartment where we worked. We had scheduled a maintenance man to do some work while we were up at the office. Dascher, not knowing the hired man ran out when the door was opened. One of the employees told us that they kept calling for Dascher and the man left. We lived on a very busy thoroughfare known for heavy traffic and accidents. Dascher, not even a year old, was not only in potential danger but it was raining as well. My only thought was his safety and how terrified he must have been. I quickly ran outside and called his name. Within seconds he came running with tail wagging yet whimpering and shaking. He calmed as I picked him up. He knew my voice. He knew my touch. He knew me. He wasn’t expecting the other man to come in. He was expecting the one who knew him and provided for him. It’s the same way with Jesus and His sheep. His sheep know His voice and His touch… Do you know the shepherd’s voice? Do you know His touch? If not turn to Him and accept Him today as your savior!

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:14-16
