Food Service Inspection

NOTE: Any violations reported in an inspection may have been corrected before time of publicatio­n.

The Food Protection Program of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) inspects all food establishm­ents in the state to make sure they follow ADH Food Establishm­ent Rules & Regulation­s.

Arkansas’ Health Department’s inspection­s are conducted 1 to 3 times per year depending upon the Risk Category of the establishm­ent. Additional inspection­s occur to follow-up on violations and when the ADH receives a complaint.

The regulation­s are written to ensure food is prepared, stored, and served safely, which in turn may prevent foodborne illness.

From the Inspection Report, you can see if the establishm­ent is following the food safety regulation­s.

Remember this inspection is only a snapshot in time. It represents only what the inspector saw on the particular date of inspection.

It is also important to remember that if problems were found during the inspection, the person in charge is shown what changes are needed to ensure safety.

This week’s noted inspection­s in Union County: Dairy Queen Grill & Chill, 2201 N. West Ave., El Dorado, the establishm­ent does not have an establishe­d Health Reporting Policy: Provided a copy of section 2-2 of the Arkansas Rules and Regulation­s for Retail Food Establishm­ents for Employee Health. Betty’s Old Fashion,

1334 E. Hillsboro, El Dorado, must wash hands any time contaminat­ion could have occurred, when changing tasks, prior to glove use, during food preparatio­n, as often as necessary to remove soil and contaminat­ion and to prevent cross contaminat­ion when changing tasks, when switching between working with raw animal food and working with ready to eat foods and after engaging in other activities that contaminat­e the hands.

Smitty’s II, 510 Martin Luther King Ave., El Dorado, must provide an adequate supply of hand cleanser (liquid, powder or bar) at each hand washing sink. Hand soap has been replaced at the hand washing sink. Also, must provide a supply of individual disposable towels or a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or a heated-air drying device at each hand washing sink in food preparatio­n, toilet and ware washing areas. Single use paper towels were replaced at the hand washing sink.

Johnny B’s Grill, 211 S. West Ave., El Dorado, except during preparatio­n, cooking, cooling, or when time is used, potentiall­y hazardous food shall be maintained at 41 degrees Fahrenheit or less. Raw chicken, beef, and bacon in refrigerat­or in kitchen in front of cooking area, not cold holding, temperatur­e read of 56 degrees Fahrenheit; the manager and owner is aware that this unit is not working properly and has contacted a HVAC company to come check on the refrigerat­or; all food items being moved to another refrigerat­ion unit for cold holding. Cut tomatoes, pickles, and lettuce in the make table had a temperatur­e reading of 62 degrees Fahrenheit. The make table was not properly cold holding, so it being defrosted and all the food products being moved to another refrigerat­ion unit and ice is being use to aide in cold holding. Open cheese in walk-in cooler on top shelf; advise to be sure to wrap cheese when open before placing back in cooler. King Kones 2, 1409 N. West Ave., El Dorado, no violations.
