County Arrests

• On Aug. 24, Scott E. Murphy, 43, of El Dorado was arrested on a warrant for absconding from probation or parole.

• On Aug. 27, Alyssa M. Thornton 27, of El Dorado and Hunter C. Hall, 27, of El Dorado, were arrested for possession of methamphet­amine and possession of drug parapherna­lia. A woman called the Union County Sheriff’s Office and asked that they conduct a welfare check on her seven month-old grandson. When officers arrived at the residence the woman gave, they found Hall and another man standing on the porch. Hall was visibly nervous, according to the police report, and shaking throughout their encounter. Hall admitted to smoking methamphet­amine earlier in the day. When Thornton came outside to speak with the officer, she was also visibly nervous and sweating and also admitted to smoking methamphet­amine earlier in the day. Thornton consented to a search of her vehicle, where an officer found drug parapherna­lia and methamphet­amine. He also conducted a search of the residence, where he found more methamphet­amine and syringes. The baby was asleep throughout the encounter.

• On Aug. 28, Shane R. Hogan, 29, of Fayettevil­le was arrested for outstandin­g warrants: two felony petitions to revoke and failure to appear in drug court. During his arrest, officers also found a small baggie with pills in it. Hogan identified the pills as Tramadol and possession of a controlled substance was added to his list of charges.

• On Aug. 29, Maximilan M. Woods, 36, of Chanute, Kansas was arrested on a petition to revoke warrant.

• On Aug. 31, Heather R. Shelton, 35, of Calion, was arrested on a misdemeano­r failure to appear warrant. In conducting a search of a bag found on Shelton’s person, an officer discovered six Hydrocodon­e pills, four Oxycodone pills and seven Adderalls. Possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of hydrocodon­e with intent to deliver and possession of oxycodone with intent to deliver were added to Shelton’s list of charges.

County Reports

• On Aug. 24, a man reported harassment in the Junction City Highway area. The man said a woman he knew would not stop calling, texting and driving by his house, refusing to leave him and his parents alone. An officer made contact with the woman, who was parked a short ways from the man’s home. She said she was the mother of the man’s children and she wanted to see them. The man has full custody of the children. An officer advised the woman to leave the area and contact a lawyer. The officer went back to the man’s house; while there, the woman called. The officer answered and told her not to call or text the man or his family any more. Before the officer left, the woman texted the man again.

• On Aug. 25, a man reported the theft of a generator from his home on Shuler Road. The man said he noticed his generator missing when he found a bottle of Windex and his leaf blower that he kept stored on top of the generator lying out in his yard. A dolly the generator was sitting on was also missing; the man and an officer were able to follow the tracks from where the dolly was dragged through the yard to a hole in the fence separating the man’s property from his neighbor’s. The man said his neighbor’s truck was recently stolen. According to the police report, someone appeared to have driven to the hole in the fence to pick up the generator, because the dolly tracks end on the other side.

• On Aug. 25, officers patrolled the Parkers Chapel peewee football game, where they took a report about a young man asking spectators for money. A man said he and other adults told the young man to leave them alone and the young man replied in a disrespect­ful way. The man said the young man was carrying a fanny pack and holding it suspicious­ly. An officer found the young man and upon searching the fanny pack found a BB gun. The young man said he was afraid he was going to be jumped by some other children he knew. The young man said he got the BB gun from his cousin the day prior.

• On Aug. 25, a man fell from a 25 foot deer stand. His thirteen year-old son called the Union County Sheriff’s Office and talked calmly to them until they arrived.

• On Aug. 25, a woman reported property stolen from her barn at her residence on Mount Holly Highway. The woman said the following property was missing: 10-12 five feet long pieces of scrap metal, valued at about $300, two industrial grade jacks, valued at $200 each and five boxes of antique plates, valued at about $300.

• On Aug. 26, officers discovered an underage drinking party on Southfield Road.

• On Aug. 26, a man reported shooting a dog in the Monument Road area of Strong. The man said the dog was killing his sheep. An officer observed seven dead sheep and three severely injured sheep alongside the dead dog. The man did not know who the dog belonged to.

• On Aug. 26, an officer conducted a welfare check in the White Oak Ridge neighborho­od. A man called the UCSO to report that his girlfriend’s child was being abused by his father. The officer visited the child’s home and the child’s father denied the allegation­s. The child said he hadn’t been spanked in over a year and that he feels safe with his father. The officer could not find a record of domestic dispute calls to the residence in the past two months.

• On Aug. 27, a man reported a theft at a scrap metal dealership on Junction City Highway. The man said a former employee weighed up aluminum the shop was buying from a customer as copper, resulting in a much higher payout for the customer. The man said a third employee witnessed the customer paying the former employee after work hours. The former employee denied involvemen­t.

• On Aug. 27, a man reported his motorcycle stolen in the Lambert Lane area. The man described the motorcycle as being grey and black with chrome features. He said the motorcycle was a 2014 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Limited.

• On Aug. 27, a man reported his puppies stolen in the Mt. Union Road area. The man said his neighbor took them while he was asleep. An officer visited the neighbor’s home, but was not able to find her or the puppies. When the officer returned to the man’s house, the man’s father was there. The father said he’d given the neighbor permission to take the puppies.

• On Aug. 27, a man residing on East 4th Street reported that his chicken coop had been stolen from his yard. The man described the chicken coop as being 8 feet long, 6 feet wide, 4 feet high and red and white in color. He left the coop about 20’ from the street in his yard that morning and when he returned home from work, the coop was missing.

• On Aug. 28, a woman reported her credit card stolen. She said she received a bill on the card, which she hadn’t used since 2015, totaling $835 in charges from three different locations. She said one of the locations has video footage of the suspect.

• On Aug. 28, a man reported his debit card stolen. The man said he saw a charge on his account from the Magnolia Dollar General totaling $200 plus $2.99 in fees. He said his card was in his possession when he made the report.

• On Aug. 29, a man reported an act of vandalism at the AT&T site on Bailey Road. The man showed an officer that the fence had been cut and repaired with zip ties. The man said a similar incident happened several months ago, and that time, copper wire was stolen.

• On Aug. 29, a man reported a theft of property at a work site at Highway 7 and New Providence Church. The man said he was laying fiber optic cable and left for about half an hour during the afternoon. He said when he returned, the cable had been cut about 30 times, presumably by someone looking for copper. Another man with the company valued the materials and time lost at $7,500.

• On Aug. 30, a woman reported her debit card being stolen. She said she believed she lost it at Health Department and recalled seeing two people that she thought were acting suspicious­ly. Her bank account showed an ATM withdrawal for $102 that she didn’t make at a gas station in town. Reviewing the security camera footage, the people she suspected did not show up; however, a gas station employee told them the gas station they were looking for was not in Union County.

• On Aug. 31, a man reported that his ex-girlfriend had stolen his debit card and emptied his bank account. The man said he’d kept a second debit card in his truck, and he believes that is the one she took. He said due to her drug use, she moved out last week. The transactio­ns that emptied his bank account took place in Mount Ida.
