City Arrests

• Jacqua M. Williams, 46, of 734 S. Smith, was arrested Sept. 1 for possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. Police said Williams was a passenger in a vehicle they stopped in the 1800 block of Junction City Road. Police said the vehicle had a temporary license plate that had expired. The driver, Kenya Larry, was cited for no driver’s license and failure to pay vehicle registrati­on. Williams was taken into custody after officers found marijuana inside a purse on the front floorboard of the vehicle. After transporti­ng Williams to the Union County jail, police said they asked her if she had any other illegal narcotics on her person, and she admitted having marijuana inside an undergarme­nt. Police said they removed two small bags — one containing cocaine and two containing marijuana — from Williams’ bra. Another female passenger in the vehicle was briefly detained and released, police said.

• Corey L. Barnes, 25, of Little Rock, was arrested Aug. 31 for possession of methamphet­amine, possession of drug parapherna­lia, possession of a firearm by certain persons and simultaneo­us possession of drugs and firearms. Barnes was also arrested on Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office warrants for contempt of court and failure to appear, respective­ly. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested for obstructio­n of government­al operations. Police said that when they arrived, the boy was speaking with Barnes and Barnes walked into an apartment. Police said the boy refused to tell them which apartment Davis had walked into. The boy was cited to appear in the Union County Juvenile Probation office and released to his mother.

• Dimetrius D. Gray, 50, and Melissa F. Gray, 53, both of 1819 Lauri Ave., were arrested Aug. 30 in connection to a “large disturbanc­e” in which shots were reportedly fired in the 800 block of Ouachita Avenue. Melissa Gray was taken into custody for aggravated assault and carrying a weapon. Dimetrius Gray faces a charge of carrying a weapon. Police said there were approximat­ely 20 people in the roadway when they arrived on the scene, and several ran away. A woman told police that a male had threatened her granddaugh­ter, and he threatened her again as her granddaugh­ter walked along Ouachita Avenue. The complainan­t approached the male about the threat, the male threatened her and called her a profane name. The complainan­t said the Grays later came to her residence and told her that her grandchild­ren had “attacked the male and beat him up.” The woman said an argument ensued, and when her family came outside to defend her, Melissa Gray retrieved a handgun from her purse and fired two or three shots. The woman said she “ducked for cover” and did not see if Melissa Gray had aimed the gun at anyone. Police said they recovered a holster on the ground next to the curb, and they seized a gun from Melissa Gray’s purse, noting that the gun “fit perfectly” in the holster. Police said there was a round in the chamber of the gun. Police said they found another loaded handgun underneath the driver’s seat of the pickup truck in which the Grays had been sitting when officers arrived on the scene. Police said Dimetrius Gray had been sitting in the driver’s seat, and he did not have a concealed carry permit.

• Justin L. Hervey, 29, of Smackover, was arrested Aug. 29 on an El Dorado warrant for theft by receiving and a Ouachita County bench warrant for parole violation.

• Maximilian M. Woods, 36, of Harold Ellen, was arrested Aug. 29 on a warrant for probation revocation.

• Rodney S. Norman, 41, of 1725 Junction City Road, was arrested Aug. 29 on a Shelby County, Tennessee, warrant for aggravated residentia­l burglary.

• Roy D. Taylor Jr., 24, of 199 Union 740, was arrested Aug. 28 for fleeing in a vehicle, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and fictitious license. Police said they spotted an SUV traveling north in the area of North West Avenue and 19th, noting that loud music was coming from the vehicle and the tires were spinning. Police said the SUV swerved twice into another lane, nearly striking a vehicle. Officers said the driver, later identified as Taylor, signaled to turn right, but instead turned left and drove across four lanes of traffic into The Commons strip mall. Officers said they initiated a traffic stop, but Taylor sped away and turned onto Glenridge Parkway. Police said Taylor then headed east on 19th and south on Calion Road, reaching speeds of more than 70 miles per hour. An officer terminated the chase after being advised to do so by a supervisor and later spotted the SUV in the area of Champagnol­le and Park. After learning of the severity of the traffic offenses that were initially reported, the supervisor advised patrol officers to continue observatio­n, and a short time later, officers saw the SUV disregard stop signs at three intersecti­ons on Cedar before

turning south on Washington. Police said Taylor continued speeding and driving erraticall­y, and they resumed the pursuit. They said he drove around a vehicle and disregarde­d the traffic signal at Hillsboro and Washington, ran off the road at the intersecti­on of Washington and Midway and struck a utility pole. Police said Taylor continued driving, turning west on Midway before coming to a stop. Taylor then exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

• Santario Carson (no further informatio­n was available) was arrested Aug. 28 for theft by receiving. A man reported Aug. 27 the theft of a fourwheele­r from his residence in the 1400 block of North Street. While on routine patrol the following day, officers saw a man, later identified as Carson, riding an ATV in the 1100 block of North Miles, noting that the ATV matched the descriptio­n of the one that had been reported stolen the previous day. Police said that when Carson saw them, he drove behind a house and got off the ATV. He told officers he had purchased the four-wheeler for $300 the previous day.

• Rakebia Q. Daniels, 36, of 314 Georgia, was arrested Aug. 27 on a warrant for parole violation.

City Reports

• A woman reported Aug. 31

the theft of $224 cash, a bank card, two Social Security card, an ARKids First card, Medicaid card and a driver’s license. The woman said the items had been inside her purse, which she inadverten­tly left on the trunk of her car as she was leaving Murphy USA convenienc­e store, 2720 N. West Ave. She said she was traveling south on North West Avenue when she realized the purse was missing, and shortly after she turned around to search for the purse, she saw it on the parking lot of Gene’s Liquor, 704 N. West Ave.

• A 27-year-old Houlka, Mississipp­i, man told police that a man stabbed him and stole his wallet and cologne from his vehicle on Aug. 31. The man said he went to Rainbow Food Mart, 2110 Junction City Road, and struck up a conversati­on with a man there. He said the man asked for a ride home, and when he dropped off the man, he noticed the wallet and cologne missing from his vehicle. He said he confronted the suspect about the missing items, and the suspect began “yelling and cursing” at him and advanced toward him aggressive­ly. He said he punched the suspect and headed back toward his vehicle. The man said he then felt a sharp pain in his lower back, and he turned and saw that the suspect was holding what appeared to be a sharp object in one of his hands. He said a fight ensued when the suspect attempted to stab him a second time, and he sustained several laceration­s on his right hand. He said he

managed to push the man away after a brief struggle. Police said they spoke with the victim at Medical Center of South Arkansas, noting that he did not immediatel­y seek medical attention or report the incident when it happened. A police report did not indicate that the man was seriously injured.

• A woman told police Aug. 30 that someone broke into her residence in the 1000 block of Haney. No items were reported missing. The woman said the suspect(s) forced open the door to her bedroom and rifled through items inside.

• A woman told police Aug. 30 that someone fraudulent­ly used her identity to open an account with T-Mobile.

• An air compressor and a work radio were reported missing from the constructi­on site of Fairfield Inn and Suites, 1730 N. West Avenue. The items had been inside the building, the complainan­t said.

• A man told officers Aug. 30 that someone fired shots at his residence in the 1300 block of North West Avenue. The man said he and his girlfriend were asleep when his girlfriend roused him and told him she believed she heard a gunshot. The man said they then noticed shards of glass on the comforter of their bed, and they noticed several bullet holes in the residence. Police said there were six bullet holes in the residence, and one of them had struck the mattress, inches away from where the man and his girlfriend had been sleeping. The man provided possible suspect

informatio­n, saying that a relative had attacked him at his residence earlier. The man said the suspect was parked in the roadway near his residence when he arrived home, and the suspect began cursing at him. He said the suspect attacked him and an altercatio­n ensued. Following the altercatio­n, the man said he went inside his residence and fell asleep.

• A man told police Aug. 29 that he was robbed at gunpoint in the Hillsboro Town House Apartments complex, 1600 Short East Hillsboro. The man said he had driven a friend to the complex to collect $20 from the suspect. The man said the suspect struck the window of his vehicle with the handle of a handgun and ordered him out of the vehicle. He said the suspect removed his wallet, took $20 cash from the wallet and then returned the wallet. The man said he then drove away. Officers spoke with the man’s friend, who said the suspect gave him $20 cash before he and the victim left the area, noting that the suspect owed the money to a relative.

• A man and woman told police Aug. 29 that someone broke into a vacant house they are remodeling in the 900 block of West Elm and stole a window air conditione­r and a tool bag containing various tools.

• An employee of First Financial Bank reported Aug. 29 that a man forged a check in the amount of $2,284.42 at the Griffith Street branch. The employee said the man then tried to forge a second check

at the Timberlane location. The employee said that when she confronted the man, he fled on foot, and a short time later, he attempted to forge another check at First Financial in Smackover. The employee said the checks were written on the account of Glenn Mechanical. A suspect has been identified, according to a police report.

• Police responded Aug. 28 to a report of a disturbanc­e at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 208 W. Hillsboro. An employee said a woman she knew entered the store and began threatenin­g her. The employee said she exited the business through a rear door, and the suspect left through the front door. The suspect then got into her vehicle, began shouting that “she was crazy” and threatened to run over the victim. The employee said the suspect then accelerate­d toward her, “swerving the vehicle away at the last moment. Witnesses corroborat­ed the victim’s account of the incident.

• A man told police Aug. 27 that someone broke into his vehicle and stole a shotgun from the trunk.

• A woman reported Aug. 27 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 2000 block of Houston and stole her wallet, which contained $300 cash, several debit and credit cards, an identifica­tion card and medical cards.

• A woman told police Aug. 26 that someone destroyed a central air conditioni­ng unit at a house she owns in the 800 East Sixth.
