Debutantes to host annual gala

The Debutante & Gentlemen Associatio­n of El Dorado recently held it’s annual Gala Debut at TAC House in El Dorado. The event’s theme was “Priceless Jewels Polished To Perfection.” Angula Davis, a teacher in the Strong-Huttig School District, and host of Black 2 Basics Radio Show on 98.7 was the guest speaker. Kelsey Jackson emceed the event. Other guests on the program included Minister Kathay Walter, the Rev. Charles and Sharon Henry, CharLene Jamerson, Bria Watson, Khadijah McCauley and members of the D&G Associatio­n.

This year, only one senior young lady stepped forward and met the challenge of making her formal debut of being presented into society accompanie­d by 10 future debutantes, six young gents - future Debutante Escorts and two lifetime Gentlemen.

Samaria Smith was Ms. Debutante. Smith is a graduating senior of Junction City High School and the daughter of Mr. Nicholas Smith and Ms. Jammie George. Her escort was lifetime member Gentlemen Ramon Jackson who is currently attending Grambling State University. He is the son of the Rev. Frederick and Jacqueline Jackson.

The 10 future debutantes and parents were Sidney Ford, daughter of Phillip and Tangy Ford; Keilyn Freeman, daughter of Michael Freeman and Kimberly Cooper; Savannah Freeman, daughter of Brittany Norful; Jakenze Gordon, daughter of Erica and James Gordon, Jr.; Malaysia Henry, daughter of LaQuita Smith; Miah King, daughter of Nakia and Demonte King; Alyse Moore, daughter of Chari Roberts and Tristan McGhee; Tomijah Smith, daughter of Valerie Smith and the late Thomas Smith; Ja’Leah Williams, Guardian SyLetta Snowden; Kiya Williams, daughter of Stefanie Miller.

The young gents and their parents were Javeion Davis, son of Jammie George; Nehemiah King, son of Nakia and Demonte King; Josiah Moore, son of Makeba and Eddie Moore; Alex Smith, son of Valerie Smith and the late Thomas Smith; Ste’Kevion and Stephen Smith, sons of LaQuita Smith; and lifetime member, Gentlemen Noah Pierce, son of the Rev. Michael and Sulanda Pierce.

In attendence were Rebecca Butler, Vannette Lacy, Devin Smith, The D&G Associatio­n and Joanna Willis of JoJo’s Catering. We would like to thank the community for it’s continual support.
