ANNIE B. BRIDGES
Sister Annie Bell Williams Bridges was a Gold Star Mother, born March 22, 1927, in Atlanta, Arkansas to Jonas and Callie Maude Hodge Williams.
She departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2018 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home, El Dorado.
Annie Bell made a confession of her faith as Romans 10:910 says, “If thou will confess with your mouth and believe in your heart thou shall be saved,” and she united with the New Home Baptist Church, Junction City, Louisiana. Annie Bell demonstrated throughout her life that she believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Annie Bell got up every day about 5 a.m. and she would always thank God for a new day filled with New Mercy and New Grace. She never took a bite of food before giving thanks to God. She was born just before the start of the Great Depression and lived throughout the depression. Annie Bell was employed many years as a domestic worker for many different families and she knew how to take a little and turn it into a meal; she would then take the leftovers home to feed her family. Later she was employed at Hillsboro Nursing Home as a cook. Yes, Annie Bell lived to see a lot of changes in the world. In 1947 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Paul Bridges.
Annie Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas and Callie Maude Williams; her husband, Paul Bridges; two sisters, Janie Early and Annie Mae Mason; one brother W.G. Williams; three children, Fred Jonas Bridges, Jr. (US Army, Vietnam), Annie Ruth Bridges Carter and Timothy Bridges; a grandchild, April Nicole Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Hudson (Dianne) Williams, Sr., El Dorado; seven grandchildren, Michelle Renee Carter, San Antonio, Texas; Dwayne Carter, Appleton, Wisconsin; Calvin Bridges, Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Kerry Ann Carter, San Antonio, Texas; Gary Williams, Hudson (Rhonda) Williams, Jr., both of El Dorado, and Angela Denise Williams, Arlington, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
VICKI CARLTON MCLAUGHLIN
Vicki Carlton McLaughlin was born in El Dorado on Feb. 16, 1949 to E.C. and Ruby Cunningham Carlton.
Vicki was the first woman to be hired at Lion Oil in 1979 as a Lab Technician and frequently drove the fire truck before her retirement after 29 years.
The two loves of her life, other than her son and grandchildren, were the Razorbacks and her dog, Elvis.
Her sense of humor remained to the end. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by a son, Mark McLaughlin, two grandsons, Michael and Matthew; a sister, Sharon Dugan, and a niece, Tamra McCune.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 from 2 until 4 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Directors. Cremation services were entrusted to Young’s Funeral Directors.
