Power Hour Comedy to feature a variety of comedians

Power Hour Comedy, a standup comedy show that will feature Paul Varghese, Chris Ivey and Nick Moore, will be held Friday at the Griffin Restaurant. Carter Bryant will be hosting the show, which will begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 presale, $15 at the door, with doors opening at 8 p.m.

Varghese, who is out of Dallas, has opened up for legends including Dave Chappelle, Joan Rivers and Russell Peters. In 2007, he was named “Best Stand-Up Comic in Dallas” by the Dallas Observer and won the 2009 “Funniest Comic in Texas” competitio­n. In 2012, Varghese was given the opportunit­y to open for Chappelle at the Dallas House of Blues and the following night in Austin. In 2014, he opened for Rivers at IP Casino Resort in Biloxi, Mississipp­i, which was followed by several more opens for Rivers in 2014.

Also performing at the show will be Ivey, who is a stand-up comedian based in Birmingham, Alabama. He relates to the audience through his life experience­s as an everyday insurance agent and a father. Ivey’s popular Goulash Comedy showcases local stars all the way to national headliners.

Moore is one of the youngest working comics in Little Rock, and is becoming successful quickly. His wit hilariousl­y mixes with his interestin­g upbringing in central Arkansas, making you laugh at things you normally don’t see or hear. Moore was recently selected at this year’s Memphis Urban Laughs Comedy Festival.
