Union County Retired Teachers to meet Wednesday

The Union County Retired Teachers will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s. Insurance updates will be given. Members are reminded to bring canned goods of IHS.

Mass Flu Clinic to be held on Sept. 27

The Arkansas Dept. of Health - Union County Health Unit is holding a mass flu shot clinic from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Union County Fairground­s, 1430 E. 19th St., El Dorado.

Bring Medicaid, Medicare or insurance cards. No out of pocket expense will be charged regardless of insurance coverage. Anyone attending should wear short sleeves or loose clothing so the nurse can easily get to the upper arm. For anyone with difficulty entering the building, staff will come to the car and give the vaccine. Anyone 6 months of age or older can receive a flu shot.

Chamber seeking theme ideas for Christmas Parade

The El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce is seeking theme ideas for the El Dorado Christmas Parade, an ongoing tradition that started in 1979.

The parade will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 6. Anyone with an idea for this year’s theme should submit it at https://www.surveymonk­ey.com/r/ ChristmasT­heme2018. Theme ideas will be accepted starting Wednesday and going through Sept. 26, with the winner being announced Sept. 28.

A gift card donated by Applebee’s Neighborho­od Grill & Bar will awarded to the person who submits the best idea.
