BEST OF THE REST
This weekend’s other top conference games (all times EDT)
OLE MISS (3-1) AT NO. 5 LSU (4-0) When: 9 p.m.
Where: Baton Rouge, La. TV: ESPN
Notes: The Rebels can score — Matt Luke’s team is averaging over 53 points in three victories. But against mighty Alabama, Mississippi was exposed in a 62-7 home loss. That makes this week’s matchup with No. 5 LSU even more interesting. The Tigers have done enough to win their first four, but they let Louisiana Tech hang around last week.
TENNESSEE (2-2) AT NO. 2 GEORGIA (4-0) When: 3:30 p.m.
Where: Athens, Ga.
TV: CBS
Notes: The Bulldogs have used a pretty simple formula out of the gate — get up big early and coast. Through four games, Kirby Smart’s team has outscored opponents by a 120-24 clip in the first half. Can the Volunteers weather the early rush? That won’t be easy at Sanford Stadium (Georgia is, as to be expected, a whopping favorite).
FLORIDA (3-1) AT
NO. 23 MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-1) When: 6 p.m.
Where: Starkville, Miss.
TV: ESPN
Notes: Call it the Dan Mullen Bowl. In his first appearance after nine years as the head coach in Starkville, it’ll be interesting to see what type of response Mullen gets at Davis Wade Stadium. Both these teams have lost only to Kentucky (imagine saying that), and Florida’s offense has been better than advertised.
