Trojans win district title; Lady Trojans take second

PARKERS CHAPEL – Parkers Chapel’s boys tennis team came away as the champions of the 8-2A District Tournament Thursday while the Lady Trojans finished as the runner-ups.

In winning the district crown, the Trojans swept the top two spots in both singles and doubles.

Michael Brotherton won the singles title with Payne Williams taking second.

In doubles, the team of Thomas Hardy and Jordan Arrington won the championsh­ip with Josh Arrington and Austin Looney finishing second.

Fordyce’s Justin Davis and Hampton’s Joseph Ellis were third and fourth respective­ly in singles, while Murfreesbo­ro’s Justin Faulkner and Blaine Humphrey took third in doubles with Fordyce’s Fredrick Pierce and Maurion Waller finished fourth.

The Lady Trojans brought home the doubles title with team of Kenlee McAuliffe and Ali Looney winning the tournament.

PC’s Macey Wood and T.K. Burson took third. In singles, Drue Thomas finished in third place for the Lady Trojans.

Shelby Belin aided Hampton to the girls team title by winning the singles title. Murfreesbo­ro’s Lea Terrell was second, while Hampton’s Maggie Harrell was fourth.

Hampton’s Kendal Duff and Cameron Partain were the runner-ups in doubles with Fordyce’s Jasmine Luca and Skylar Baca taking fourth.
