Smackover rolls through Horatio

SMACKOVER - Dexter Crockett racked up 114 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries, as Smackover rolled to a 56-0 win over Horatio in 5-3A play Friday night.

The win sets up a league showdown at Prescott next week. The Curley Wolves improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in league play with a win over Bismarck Friday.

In downing the Lions, Smackover’s defense turned in an outstandin­g performanc­e, holding Horatio (2-3, 1-1) to just six yards of total offense. The Bucks (4-1, 2-0) also scored a touchdown on defense with Keyun Ard recovering a fumble for a score.

“I thought our defense played well and our offense executed,” said Smackover coach Brian Brown. “I’m proud of the way they played. We just need to keep going.”

In addition to Crockett’s two touchdowns, Roshard Boone and Javon Modica had one rushing touchdown apiece.

Jaqueze Modica caught a touchdown pass and also returned a punt for a score.

Smackover’s special teams added a second touchdown with Dawson Biggers blocking a punt and returning it for a score.

Harley Williams was a perfect 7-of-7 on extra points in the win for Smackover.

Fordyce 41, Strong 0

FORDYCE - Fordyce capped a busy week on the gridiron by knocking off Strong 41-0 in 8-2A play Friday night.

On Monday, the Redbugs (3-2, 2-0) completed their game at Bearden after inclement weather forced the game to be suspended.

The win is the third straight for the Redbugs after starting the season 0-2.

LeAndrew Greer had 33 yards on 13 carries for the Bulldogs (0-5, 0-2), while Derrion Davis also finished with 33 yards on the ground on five carries.

X-Zavier McHenry added 20 yards on four carries for the Bulldogs.

Defensivel­y, Davis, McHenry and Tyler Gafford had five tackles apiece with Gafford also picking up six yards rushing on three carries.

Strong will complete their two-game road swing next week at Hampton.
