PINE BLUFF - Barton’s eighth-grade football team came away with a road win Tuesday night, as the Wildkittens knocked off Pine Bluff 29-6.

The win improves Barton’s record to 7-1 heading into their season finale on Nov. 1 against Camden Fairview.

After Barton’s defense delivered a goal-line stand, the Wildkittens needed just three plays to complete a 98-yard drive, as Kolin Parker connected with Deandra Burns on an 85-yard touchdown pass.

Omer Alshujaa’s extra point gave Barton a 7-0 lead, and the Wildkittens led by the same score after the opening period of play.

The Zebras pulled to within a point with a touchdown in the second quarter, but after Kevin Hoosier recovered a fumble, the Wildkittens scored as the end of the half on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jon Brooks Elia to Burns.

Alshujaa’s extra point gave Barton a 14-6 edge at intermission.

The Wildkittens padded their lead in the third quarter thanks to another turnover.

After an interception by Curtis Jefferson, Elia fired a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jakobi Montgomery with Alshujaa’s extra point making it 21-6.

Barton’s final score came in the fourth quarter on a 22-yard collaboration from Elia to Burns.

The snap for the extra point was off target, but Burns was able to recover and make the two-point conversion successful to make the final margin.
