It's Democrats Who Shred American Values

While campaign stumping in Las Vegas, former Vice President Joe Biden said that American values are being "shredded" by President Donald Trump.

According to Biden, the United States was founded "on an idea, an American idea, basic fundamental decency, and it's being shredded."

Considering Biden's professed interest in American values and first principles, it's worth recalling the words of George Washington in his

Farewell Address.

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensible supports," observed our first president. He continued:

"Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion."

In these few words, Washington warned against everything that Biden's Democratic Party has become. Washington said that we should never buy into the illusion that we can have a lawful society that protects life, liberty and property if our laws are not rooted in immutable eternal principles.

Abandoning these basic truths has caused this "shredding" of American values. And that is exactly what Democrats have done and want to continue to do.

This was on grand display during the confirmation hearings of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, where Democrats were so driven to destroy his nomination that they had no reservations in destroying the man or his family along with it.

A society without objective truth is a society with no respect for facts. So it would make sense that a man could be convicted by allegation, by uncorroborated claims, as Democrats tried to do to Kavanaugh.

The Trump administration is attempting to turn our nation from the suicidal path of relativism and subjective truth on which Biden and his party has taken us.

Currently, for instance, the Department of Health and Human Services is moving to re-write the Obama administration's legal definition of sex, which turned gender definition into a matter of personal whim rather than biological fact.

"Sex means a person's status as a male or female based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth..." according to the re-write being proposed by HHS.

Such clarity is vital considering laws like Title IX of the civil rights act that protect against gender discrimination. What could gender discrimination mean if gender has no factual basis and is just something that individuals make up?

The detachment of Democrats from factual reality, and hence from any truth-based morality, has led to the collapse of the traditional American family and to destructive social experimentation. This social experimentation, rooted in relativism, leads inevitability to human tragedy. And blacks and minorities always wind up paying the dearest price.

Consider the recent horror story of a white lesbian couple who adopted six black children, with the tragic result of the mother deliberating driving over a cliff at 90 miles an hour, killing them all. It is unconscionable that along with breaking the traditional definition of marriage and family, we now allow children to be adopted into untraditional, at best experimental, circumstances.

It is Biden's Democratic Party that has shredded American values. Not Donald Trump.

It follows that the party that doesn't care about facts and truth cannot understand or care about diversity in education, and hence supports teachers' unions over parental choice.

And it is Joe Biden's party that thinks the welfare state, rather than personal morality, virtue and responsibility, leads people to financial stability.

Traditional American values -- family, education, work -- are critical to our future.

It's why voters should choose Republicans in November.
