DAY 35: Sunday, Nov. 4

-

SCRIPTURE: “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” – Luke 19:10

OBSERVATION: The scene with Zacchaeus provides Luke’s Gospel with its ultimate statement about Jesus. Jesus knew His purpose on earth. His purpose was not to reform the Jewish religion. His purpose was not to prove the Pharisees wrong. His purpose was not to bring in a military, political kingdom. His purpose was to bring salvation to lost people which include you and me. Jesus dedicated the three years of his earthly ministry to finding people who knew they were lost and showing them God’s way of salvation; the way of repentance and faith.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, we thank You that You thought enough of us to leave the shining courts of glory to come to earth on a seek and rescue mission. You commended Your love toward us in that while we were yet sinners You died for us. But, we realize that there are so many who remain lost because we as believers have failed to be the witnesses that You’ve called us to be. It’s our prayer that we focus our attention on what’s important. And that is, sharing the good news with the lost, the least and the left out. And so, we come boldly to Thy throne of grace that we might obtain mercy and grace to help in our time of need. We pray that we’d have a burning zeal to share You with the lost souls of city and having as our battle cry that You didn’t come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. We ask it all in the powerful, precious and preeminent name of Jesus, amen.
