County Arrests

• On Oct. 26, Eden C. Kenly, 31, of Crossett was arrested on a petition to revoke her probation. She was transporte­d from the Ashley County Detention Center to the Union County Sheriff’s Office where she was booked into the jail.

• On Oct. 27, Luis Hernandez, 21, of El Dorado was arrested on a petition to revoke his probation. He was transporte­d from Ouachita County to the UCSO where he was booked into the jail.

• On Oct. 27, Roger L. Fields, 41, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons. A woman said Fields was at her house, claiming that people were outside trying to get him. Upon an officer’s arrival, Fields agreed to step onto the porch to speak with him after telling the officer he had a gun. An officer discovered that Fields was a convicted felon and he was arrested.

• On Oct. 30, Javon Hunter, 20, of Magnolia was arrested on charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery.

• On Nov. 1, James A. Orrell, 25, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic

battery (2nd offense), first-degree endangerin­g the welfare of a minor and obstructio­n of government­al operations. A woman with a bump on her face said she and Orrell got into an argument and he pushed her while she was holding their one-month old child. The woman said she fell between the stove and fridge, hitting her face on the fridge. The woman said she put the child in their child’s seat and went and called 911. Orrell began screaming when the officer talked to the woman and kept trying to talk to her. There were items in the front yard that seemed to have been thrown during the argument.

County Reports

• On Oct. 26, an officer responded to a call about a domestic disturbanc­e on Ash Street. A man reported that he and his brother were hanging out at his house when he realized he needed to leave. The man said he asked his brother to leave because his roommate did not want his brother at the house. The man said at that point, his brother attacked him, charging him across the living room and slapping him in the face. The man’s brother admitted that they did fight, but said it was over a girl, not him having to leave the residence.

• On Oct. 26, a man was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic battery and interferen­ce with emergency communicat­ions. The man’s girlfriend said he came home later than usual and when she asked where he’d been, he got angry. She said he followed her into the bathroom, where he slapped her. She said she then went to get her phone to call the police, at which point the main reportedly took her phone from her. She then went to a neighbor’s house to call. The man told police that he did take the phone to prevent her from calling the police.

• On Oct. 27, a woman reported that she believed someone she’d previously ousted from her residence had accidental­ly taken a set of keys and tool kit from her. The woman said the other person was removed from her residence a day prior by UCSO officers. The deputy on scene searched for the missing items and was able to locate the toolbox intact; however, he could not find the keys.

• On Oct. 28, a woman was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, being a minor in possession of alcohol, obstructin­g government­al operations, public intoxicati­on and criminal trespass. A deputy responded to a noise complaint on Orr Lane, where a birthday party was ongoing. While there, a deputy noticed a woman drinking beer at the residence, but thought nothing of it initially. He then informed the homeowner that her registrati­on on her vehicle was expired and she should have it fixed before driving the vehicle again. At that point, the woman that had been drinking beer approached the group and told the woman she didn’t need to worry about what the police were saying because her car was parked. The deputy warned the woman that she could be arrested for disorderly conduct, at which point the woman walked inside, slamming the door. At that point, the homeowner told the deputy she did not know that woman; she said the woman walked over from a separate house party after getting in a fight there. The deputy followed the woman inside and asked her to put her hands behind her back; she initially refused but eventually complied. According to the police report, the woman was “very disrespect­ful,” cursed at the officers and said she was studying criminal justice and knew the law.

• On Oct. 28, a man was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana. A deputy noticed the man asleep in his vehicle and approached to try to wake him up. The deputy knocked on the window for a time, eventually waking the man up. The deputy observed the man to have bloodshot and watery eyes and that he appeared to be disoriente­d. The officer noted that when the man rolled his window down, he could smell marijuana from inside the vehicle. He asked the man whether he had anything illegal in the vehicle, to which the man said no initially; he eventually told the deputy he had a bag of marijuana in his truck’s tool box. The officer located it in a search.

• On Oct. 29, two people reported being threatened at a residence on Lisbon Road. A man said five people approached him and one asked where one of his relatives was. The man did not know and told the others that, to which the man told him he should find out quickly or “he was next,” according to the police report. A woman said the man told her the same thing.

• On Oct. 29, a woman reported that her neighbors were harassing her family. The woman said her husband called her and told her he had been taking out the garbage when one of the neighbors approached him aggressive­ly and said he wanted to fight him. The woman said the harassment has been ongoing.

• On Oct. 29, a man reported several forged checks he’d noticed. The man said on his bank statement, he saw four checks that he did not write, made out to an elderly sister-in-law that lives in Michigan. The man said he had not seen her in years, but her son had stayed with him on and off for the past year. The man said after the man left last, he noticed his checkbook missing but did not think anything of it until he was short on money for the month, at which point he contacted the bank and saw his bank statement. The checks were cashed between September and October and totaled $2200.

• On Oct. 29, a man reported that a woman stole tools from his vehicle while he was in jail. The man said a third of the tools were his and the rest were his boss’. The woman told him previously she would hold the tools for safekeepin­g while he was in jail and then return them when he got out.

• On Oct. 30, a man was arrested for public intoxicati­on. An officer with the UCSO was dispatched to Strong Highway where he met a second officer who said the suspect was on Highway 82 East. The man said someone was chasing him and that he was talking “out of his head.” Officers discovered an open and almost empty beer bottle in the man’s vehicle’s cup holder, at which point they placed him under arrest.

• On Oct. 30, an officer with the UCSO went to a man’s residence to retrieve the man’s mother’s social security and insurance cards. The man was not home, so the officer left his number with the man’s roommate. The roommate called later and made arrangemen­ts to give the documents to the officer. After the officer picked them up, he returned them to the man’s mother.

• On Oct. 30, a woman was arrested for thirddegre­e domestic battery. An officer found her walking along the road; when he questioned her, she became irate and was detained. The woman’s parents said she came to their house with a stray dog, who later attacked their pet dog. According to the police report, the woman then started attacking their pet dog as well. The woman’s mother said she also began hitting her father, then her as well. The mother said the woman tried to take off in her dad’s car, but that they were able to stop her. The woman then left on foot, which is when the officer met her in the road. The woman’s father said his daughter was supposed to be on an ankle monitor but that she had apparently taken it off.

• On Oct. 30, a man reported a theft that occurred on the Ouachita County Line. The man said 12 counterwei­ghts had been stolen, valued at a total $3600. The man later reported finding an additional 25 counterwei­ghts missing.

• On Oct. 30, a man was arrested for third-degree domestic battery. A man said his daughter and her husband were arguing and that his wife asked him to leave so he would not get into a fight with the husband. The man said that when he returned a while later, he saw his daughter’s husband throw a lighter at her, at which point he confronted the husband and told him not to throw things at her and to leave. The man said the husband then punched him in the head. The husband was arrested.

• On Oct. 31, a woman reported that her daughter took her vehicle without her permission. The daughter was later brought to the UCSO on separate charges from the El Dorado Police Department.

• On Oct. 31, a man reported a woman waving a gun at him on Crain City Road. The man said his dog got into his neighbor’s pasture, where the neighbor keeps livestock, so he went onto the property to get his dog back before any damage could be done. The property owner’s daughter saw him on her father’s land and began yelling at him, according to the police report. The man said she also pulled a gun on him. The woman said she did not pull a gun on him. She said she recorded the incident and showed the officer the recordings.

• On Nov. 1, a woman reported someone knocking her mailbox down to the ground. The woman said as she’d left the residence earlier, she noticed her neighbor, whom she and her husband have had trouble with before, staring at her, adding that she thought he was the one who knocked the mailbox over.

• On Nov. 1, an inmate at the Union County Jail reported another inmate attacking him. The man said the second inmate started yelling at him to be quiet when he already was, so he responded saying so. The man said the second inmate then came up and started striking him in the head and face. The man said he walked away to wash blood from his eyes and the second man came again, hitting him more. The man said the second inmate told him to get in his bed before attacking him a third time. The man had bruising on his face and scratches on his body. The second inmate was charged for third-degree battery.

• On Nov. 1, an inmate at the Union County Jail reported a fight. The man said earlier in the day, he’d gotten on to a fellow inmate for poking him. The man said the second inmate attacked him later in the day, hitting him the head and face. The man had a bloody nose and a cut under one of his eyes. The second man was charged with third-degree battery.

• On Nov. 2, a deputy conducted a welfare check in Junction City. A man said he hadn’t seen his brother since July and was worried for him. A deputy met the man and his brother’s son at the brother’s residence. The deputy had to break the door down to gain entry, and once there, he noticed the smell of decomposit­ion. The resident of the house had died.

• On Nov. 2, a deputy took a report of possible child abuse. A couple reported that when they went to visit the woman’s young son, he was wearing dirty clothes and smelled unclean. The woman went to visit her son again the next day, she said, and he was wearing the same dirty clothes. They said they were also concerned for her young daughter, who seemed afraid to speak without her caregiver’s permission. The deputy reported it to DHS.

• On Nov. 2, a man reported that he suspected his son of stealing his debit card. The man said that after a visit with his son, he noticed the debit card missing. The man said he then received a call from his bank asking about strange transactio­ns, some of which took place in Bossier, Louisiana, which is where the man’s son’s girlfriend lived. $1,556.18 was the total amount of money used from the card.

City Arrests

• Lucas L. Ward, 37, of 1212 N. Bradley, was arrested Nov. 1 for theft of property (auto) and commercial burglary. Ward is accused of breaking into Car-Mart, 1610 W. Hillsboro, and stealing a vehicle, a silver Jeep Patriot, from the business.

• Albert L. Dade, 57, of 216 Rock Island, was arrested Oct. 31 on a Harris County, Texas, warrant for aggravated assault.

• Tony Gibson, 51, of 1410 E Ave., was arrested Oct. 29 on a warrant for enforcemen­t of fines. Gibson was already in custody on a warrant for parole violation.

• Tina M. Moore, 38, of 404 N. Lane Drive, was arrested Oct. 29 for possession of methamphet­amine, possession of drug parapherna­lia and on a warrant for failure to appear. Police said they made contact with Moore on the corner of Thompson and Robinson and learned of an active warrant for her arrest. During a search incident to arrest, police found two glass pipes and methamphet­amine in Moore’s pockets, according to a police report.

• Cecily C. Hill, 29, and Willie L. Simmons, 44, both of 1002 E. Elm, were arrested Oct. 28 for aggravated assault on a family or household member and thirddegre­e domestic battering, respective­ly. Hill told officers that Simmons, her boyfriend, struck her in the face with his fist and left the residence. Police said one of Hill’s eyes was “extremely red.” According to a police report, Simmons returned to the residence, and as officers were preparing to handcuff him, he told them that Hill had threatened him with a knife. Hill later admitted to making the threat.

• Christophe­r C. Simmons, 30, was arrested Oct. 27 for possession of ecstasy, possession of marijuana, DWI and defective equipment. Police conducted a traffic stop after noticing a vehicle with a defective headlight in the area of East Main and Madison. They said Simmons was the driver and they smelled marijuana as they approached the vehicle. Police said Simmons handed them a small marijuana blunt and admitted there was marijuana in his right front pocket. Police said they removed two bags of marijuana from his pocket. Police also said they smelled alcohol on Simmons’s breath, and Simmons told officers that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages. During a search of Simmons’s vehicle, police said they found to ecstasy pills in the front passenger seat.

City Reports

• A man reported Nov. 2 the theft of a blue, 2011 Jeep Compass from his residence in the 2000 block of East Faulkner. The man’s wife told officers that the vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside at the time of the theft.

• A woman told police Nov. 2 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 300 block of Dixie Drive and stole approximat­ely $50 in change.

• An employee of Regions Bank told police Nov. 2 that a man cashed a fraudulent check in the amount of $3,500. The man netted $3,360 of the total amount after a $140.00 fee was applied, the Regions employee said. The complainan­t said the check was cashed on Oct. 9, and when the man was notified of the fraud on Nov. 1, the man agreed to repay the money “in small increments.”

• A man told police Nov. 1 that someone broke into his residence in the 2300 block of Gaines and stole a video game system, a video game, seven gold and silver necklaces, a pair of athletic shoes and a belt.

• A woman told police Nov. 1 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 1200 block of Robinson and stole $25 cash.

• On Oct. 31, a woman reported that someone entered her vehicle at her residence in the 900 block of West Main and stole $10 in change.

• A woman told police Oct. 31 that someone

entered her vehicle in the 1600 block of East Main and stole her cellphone and $6 cash. The woman said she had left the engine running and the doors unlocked while she briefly went inside two businesses in the area. The woman and police tracked the phone to a residence in the 400 block of North Mosby. A woman there said her teenage grandson had just returned from the store. Police said the complainan­t then called out to them from a parking lot just south of the residence and told them someone had just thrown the phone across a fence between the parking

lot and the backyard of the residence. Police said the phone was not damaged.

• Police were called Oct. 31 to Auto Glass and Tint, 429 E. Main, in reference to the attempted theft of a four-wheeler. An employee said a witness informed him that a male was pushing the ATV behind the building and through a trail leading to railroad tracks that are adjacent to the business. The complainan­t said he saw the suspect riding the ATV, and after a brief foot chase, he caught up to the suspect and shoved him off the four-wheeler. He said the suspect then ran south. The suspect was described as a black male, approximat­ely 6 feet tall and 25 years old, wearing a navy blue hoodie and khaki shorts.

• An employee of H&H Maintenanc­e

Service reported Oct. 31 the theft of his work van from his residence in the 700 block of West Block. The man said he thought his brother may have taken the van, and an hour later he called officers back to the residence, saying his brother had returned in he vehicle. Michael A. Samuel, 52, of 716 W. Block, was subsequent­ly taken into custody on a misdemeano­r charge of unauthoriz­ed use of a vehicle.

• An air conditioni­ng unit was reported stolen Oct. 30 from a residence in the 200 block of Tanglewood.

• A woman told police Oct. 30 that her boyfriend attacked her at her residence in the 1200 block of West Faulkner. She said the suspect came to the residence uninvited and bit her on the right shoulder. Police said the woman had what appeared to be a large bite mark on her shoulder. The woman said she later noticed that her keys and cellphone were missing and believed the suspect took them. She noted there is an active no-contact order against the suspect.

• While on routine patrol Oct. 29, police reported finding an abandoned vehicle at the intersecti­on of Detroit and Beech. Police said the vehicle had extensive damage which could have been caused from striking a deer. They later learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Grand Prairie, Texas. Police said there were two backpacks inside the vehicle that belonged to children who attend a local school.
