City Arrests:

• Timothy L. Reedy, 65, of 538 Hawthorne, and Terrance L. Tatum, 54, of 212 S. Park, were arrested Nov. 16 for damaging wires and fixtures. Reedy faces an additional charge of possessing instrument­s of crime. A woman told officers that she arrived at her residence in the 400 block of Cargile and noticed two men, later identified as Reedy and Tatum, standing near her neighbor’s residence. She said she also noticed a cable dangling from a utility pole and onto her boyfriend’s vehicle. She said she yelled at the men “to fix the cable,” and they admitted “they were running cable for the neighbor.” Police said Reedy and Tatum were taken into custody and during a search incident to arrest, they found wire cutters, wrenches, wire connectors, two knives, nails, a flashlight and a screw driver in Reedy’s possession.

• Terry D. Morgan, 39, of 1300 Woodland, was arrested Nov. 15 for second-degree forgery and theft by receiving. An employee of Simmons First Bank, 100 W. Grove, told police that Morgan attempted to cash a forged check. The employee said she spoke to the owner of the checking account on which the check was written, and the owner said she did not authorize the check. The account owner told officers that her laptop computer was stolen Nov. 9 and the checks were laying near the computer at the time. She also said she had reported the theft to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Morgan was taken into custody at Simmons First and he told officers that a relative had given him the check.

• Cassandra L. Scott, 39, of 1502 Mosby, was arrested Nov. 15 for false evidence of registrati­on, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license. Police said Scott was the driver of a vehicle they stopped in the 200 block of East Fifth. They said the vehicle-registrati­on tag had expired and a temporary tag appeared to have been forged. Police said they also learned that Scott’s driver’s license was suspended. Officers said they could smell marijuana inside the vehicle and during a search incident to arrest, they found two small bags of marijuana inside Scott’s purse.

• Juraven J.M. Stephens, 26, of 517 W. First, was arrested Nov. 11 for residentia­l burglary, third-degree battery and criminal mischief. Police responded to a report of a burglary in the 800 block of North Yocum and that the victim was detaining the suspect inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers said several neighbors exited their res-

idences and told officers they could hear a disturbanc­e inside the victim’s residence. Police also said they heard “banging and females shouting” as they approached the residence. The victim opened the door after officers identified themselves several times, according to a police report. Police said several items were damaged and strewn about the floor and the odor of a chemical spray also wafted from the residence. Stephens was reportedly standing next to victim and police said Stephens’s shirt was “pulled down,” she was crying and appeared to be in a daze. The victim told officers that Stephens broke into the residence and attacked her, explaining that the break-in stemmed from a dispute that had been ongoing throughout the day. The victim said another woman had been harassing via phone calls and on the last call, the woman shouted at the victim to come outside and called the victim a profane name. The woman said she then heard a vehicle horn honking on the phone and outside her residence. When she cracked open the door to see who was outside, Stephens forced her way inside the residence and attacked her, the victim told police. She said she used a chemical spray on Stephens to defend herself and Stephens fell to the floor. The victim said Stephens then broke a mirror, grabbed a piece of the broken glass and attempted to cut her with it, adding that officers arrived at that point. Police said several other women who were inside the residence at the time agreed with the victim’s account of the incident but did not provide statements to officers.

• William H. Jones, 53, of 1015 Booker T. Washington, was arrested Nov. 10 on a Union County Sheriff’s Office warrant for petition to revoke probation. City Reports:

• A woman told police Nov. 17 that her ex-husband attacked her during an argument at her residence in the 1300 block of West First. She said the suspect grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the floor and choked her. The woman said her head struck the floor as she fell, adding that the suspect bit her on the cheek. Police said the suspect had left the residence by the time they arrived.

• A woman reported Nov. 16 that her daughter-in-law broke into her residence in the 1300 block of West First, ran toward the complainan­t’s son — the suspect’s husband — and struck him in the face. The complainan­t said someone knocked on the door, and when she and her son realized it was the suspect, they immediatel­y closed the door. She said the suspect forced her way inside the residence and broke a mirror during the altercatio­n with her. Police said the suspect had left the scene by the time they arrived.

• A woman told police Nov. 16 that someone stole clothes from her garage in the 1100 block of North Miles. She said the clothes belonged to her 9-year-old daughter, and she provided informatio­n about a possible suspect.

• On Nov. 16, a woman told officers that someone broke into her vehicle at New Beginning Church of God in Christ, 804 S. College, and stole her wallet, which contained $100 cash and a driver’s license. She also said her cellphone — an Apple iPhone 5s —, prescripti­on medication and photograph­s were missing from her purse.

• A man told police Nov. 15 that someone broke into his vehicle in the area of Robert E. Lee and College and stole two handguns, $300 cash and two trail cameras.

• A woman told police Nov. 15 that someone broke into her residence in the 900 block of Lockhart. The woman said the burglary was captured on surveillan­ce video and the suspects appeared to be juveniles.

• A man reported Nov. 14 the theft of several items from his property in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King. Reported missing were chrome and aluminum wheels, windows, car batteries, hot water tanks and various types of scrap metal, including copper. The man said he previously reported that a relative had taken several items from the property, and he has since discovered that the other items were missing. He also said he learned that his relative has sold many of the stolen items.

• A woman told police Nov. 14 that someone fraudulent­ly used her debit card to make transactio­ns totaling $318.33. The woman said she used the debit card at McDonald’s, 1730 N. West Ave., on Nov. 12 and may have inadverten­tly left the card there.

• Police responded Nov. 14 to a report of breaking or entering in the 1100 block of West Faulkner. A man told officers that someone entered his vehicle and stole a box of 40-caliber bullets, $5 cash, a debit card, driver’s license and two jackets.

• On Nov. 14, a woman reported that someone entered her vehicle at her residence in the 1300 block of New York and stole her wallet, which contained a bank card, several credit cards, a health insurance card and a driver’s license.

• A man told police Nov. 13 that someone broke into his residence in the 200 block of East Pecan and stole a video game system.

• A woman told police Nov. 13 that a woman she knew reportedly broke into her residence and began arguing with her children’s father. She said her children’s father reported hearing what sounded like a window breaking in a bedroom and then a loud noise at the front door. The suspect then allegedly stepped inside the residence and began arguing with him, according to a police report. Police said the front door was damaged and the bedroom window was shattered. On Nov. 12, the suspect told police that the male had slapped her.

• On Nov. 13, police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in at a residence in the 400 block of Liberty. The owner of the vehicle said $10 cash was missing.

• A man told police Nov. 12 that someone entered his vehicle at a residence in the 800 block of West Block and stole the vehicle-registrati­on papers.

• A woman told police Nov. 12 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 600 block of West Main and stole a GPS unit, prescripti­on medication and her husband’s wallet, which contained $50 cash and personal items.

• A man reported Nov. 12 the theft of a white, 2001 Honda Accord from his residence in the 1300 block of Orchard. The owner of the car said the driver’s side rearview mirror was missing and there were dents in the rear driver’s side door and one of the fenders.

• A man told officers Nov. 11 that someone entered his vehicle at his residence in the 600 block of West Wesson and stole $5 in quarters and a bag.

• A woman reported Nov. 11 that someone entered her vehicle at her residence in the 200 block of North Newton. She said several items were disturbed but it did not appear as if any items were missing.

• A resident in the 600 block of Robinson told police Nov. 11 that someone entered her vehicle. She said papers were strewn about the vehicle but it did not appear as if any items were missing.

• An employee of JCPenney, 1845 N. West Ave., told police Nov. 9 that two females stole a total of $1,035.50 worth of merchandis­e from the business. She said the females had a small child with them at the time of the theft. The employee noted that one of the females had previously been banned from the store, and as the suspects were leaving, the female who had been banned from the business told another store employee, “You can’t do anything about it, either.”

County Arrests

On Nov. 9, Xavier Q. Thrower, 24 of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. An officer observed Thrower driving and recognized him as having previously driven without a license. During a traffic stop, an officer smelled marijuana and detained Thrower. The officer eventually found marijuana in the vehicle and on the vehicle’s passengers.

On Nov. 9, Jacoby McMurrian, 25, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. According to the police repot, McMurrian had marijuana on him during Thrower’s traffic stop.

On Nov. 9, Juston A. Mayweather, 23, OF El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. According to the police report, Mayweather had marijuana on him during Thrower’s traffic stop.

On Nov. 10, Gwendolyn G. Brewer, 62, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member. A man reported that he’d invited Brewer to live with him about eight months ago, when they were in a relationsh­ip; however, he said the relationsh­ip soon ended. The man said he’d asked Brewer numerous times to move out, but she would not. The man said she had been drinking heavily that day and threatened to kill him, pulling a shotgun on him at their shared home. Brewer showed officers bruises on her arm, which she claimed came from the man she was living with from earlier that day, but, according to the police report, the bruises appeared to be several days old.

On Nov. 10, William H. Jones, 53, of El Dorado was arrested on a petition to revoke his probation.On Nov. 12, Jeffery Clark, 30, of El Dorado was arrested on a petition to revoke his suspended imposition of sentence. Someone called the UCSO regarding someone trespassin­g on their property. When deputies arrived, the homeowner at the location they were dispatched to said he did not call them. The deputies went ahead and searched the area until they found a second house on the property. The home owner owned that house as well and said Clark lived there. He unlocked the door for the deputies and they found Clark in the bath tub of the house.

On Nov. 13, Regis L. Dismuke, 29, of El Dorado was arrested on two petitions to revoke his probation after being pulled over in a traffic stop on Mt. Holly Highway.

On Nov. 15, Kerstain Sturdivant, 20, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of second-degree battery and third-degree battery.

On Nov. 15, Theodore Roberts, 48, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of property theft and furnishing prohibited articles. A man called the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a robbery in progress. The man said he came home to find Roberts with three tires that were his. The man said Roberts took off after he arrived. Officer caught up with Roberts later and arrested him.

On Nov. 15, Clenton Wade, 43, of El Dorado was arrested for property theft. Wade is thought to be involved in the robbery Theodore Roberts was arrested for.

On Nov. 15, Erik M. Wade, 38, of El Dorado was arrested for property theft and a parole violation. Wade is thought to be involved in the robbery Theodore Roberts was arrested for.

County Reports

On Nov. 9, a woman reported someone breaking into her residence on Parnell Road. Her home was also broken into earlier last week, so she and her family decided to leave the home two days before the break in for safety. The woman said when she went back Friday to check on things, she discovered the second break in. An officer with the UCSO observed that the door to the house was damaged. The woman said her home had been ransacked and several items had been stolen. The property stolen included two debit cards, about $20 in silver coins, a wallet, her mother’s ring, a black iPad and a flat screen television set.

On Nov. 10, a woman at the Mid South Market on Strong Highway reported a theft. The woman said two customers came into the store asking about baby clothing; while she went to find what they were looking for, the woman said she heard the front door buzzer going off. The woman said when she returned to her register, she noticed several purses that had been hung around the register were now missing. The woman said the couple paid with a check, but that she believed it was forgery. She also reported her laptop missing.

On Nov. 11, several deputies with the UCSO were dispatched to areas around Union County regarding mail scattered around the road. The areas included Choctaw Ridge, Moody Lane, Barrow Hill and Glenn Road. One person who was affected by the scattered mail said she noticed that her mailbox may have been messed with Nov. 8.

On Nov. 11, an employee at the Missle Mart on Hillsboro reported a scam and theft at the business. The employee said two customers came in and appeared not to be together because they separated after entering the store. The woman said the first customer bought a pack of cigarettes and paid with a $100 bill. The second customer asked for scratch off tickets. After the first customer paid and the employee gave him about $94 in change, the second man asked for his scratch off winnings in $1 bills. At that point, the first customer told the cashier he’d paid with a $20 and that she’d given him too much change. The cashier pulled the $100 the first customer paid with out of the till and set it on the counter, explaining to the man that he’d paid with the $100 bill. As she dealt with the second customer, the first took the $100 bill and the $94 in change and left the store. The employee observed both customers leave in the same vehicle.

On Nov. 12, a man reported that almost a week prior, he’d been driving to El Dorado, when he hit a dog on Wesson Road. The man said he couldn’t avoid hitting the dog, but said the dog survived the impact. The dog’s owner said she was going to try to pay for the vehicle’s repairs and also reported that the dog was okay.

On Nov. 13, a man reported a theft at the Entergy substation on Industrial Road. The man said he noticed upon his arrival at work that the toolboxes on the crane truck were open, but said he couldn’t find anything missing from the truck. The man said he then noticed where someone had thrown several items over the fence of the substation. However, the man said the only thing missing from the area was scrap copper which was in a dumpster.

On Nov. 13, a woman reported that an elderly woman she’d been caretaker for had developed dementia and kicked her out of her home. The woman said the elderly woman had gone through her mail and sold several pieces of furniture which belonged to the first woman.

On Nov. 13, a man was arrested for third-degree domestic battery. The man said he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument which eventually turned physical. The man had marks and scratches on his face and neck and said his girlfriend had choked him. The woman said they were having a verbal argument that she tried to walk away from until the man grabbed her and would not let her go. She said she bit him and was able to walk away. The woman said she went outside to cool off, but the man followed her, which is when the altercatio­n turned physical. She said the man hit and choked her and chased her when she ran away. A witness said she heard someone calling for help and observed the man chasing the woman. The woman also had marks on her face and neck.

On Nov. 13, an employee of the Dixie Food Mart in Parkers Chapel reported that a man tried to pay for his purchase with a counterfei­t $20. The woman said she could immediatel­y tell by the way the bill felt that it was fake. She said when she told the customer, he took the bill back and said he would be right back; however, instead, he left the store immediatel­y.

On Nov. 15, a woman reported her vehicle had been stolen from her residence on Quinn Road. The woman said she woke up to see her vehicle’s taillights leaving her driveway. She said her purse, which contained several credit cards, were also inside the vehicle, along with a spare key. Later, the woman discovered her home had also been burglarize­d. She realized a window had been broken out and a gun stolen. The woman’s son said the gun was a .243 caliber SWM with a synthetic stock and a Bushnell optic, special edition and dark green to black in color. The woman was unsure if anything else had been stolen.

On Nov. 16, eight signs were vandalized with spray paint in Wildwood Circle. A woman said her neighbor told her she’d seen a man and woman

walking down the street the night before, and that when she saw the couple, none of the signs had yet been vandalized.

On Nov. 16, a man reported that he believed his son was using his checks without his permission.

The man said his son had been tasked with staying home with his mother and paying the household bills; the man gave him his checkbook for that purpose. The man said he hadn’t seen his son in a few weeks.

On Nov. 16, a man reported being run off the road on Highway 129. The man, driving a

semi-truck, said he saw a vehicle driving the wrong direction in his lane. He saw the vehicle in front of him pull off the side of the road to avoid the other car, but he thought the car would move back to the correct side of the road. When the car did not switch lanes, the truck driver pulled off to avoid collision, causing damage to his truck.
