ROSSTON – Amari Bell scored 15 points, but it wasn’t enough, as Parkers Chapel lost its second straight to start the season with a 49-44 loss at Nevada.

The Trojans trailed 12-10 after the opening period before seeing their deficit grow to 31-21 at intermission.

Nevada led 39-30 after three periods before the Trojans’ comeback in the final period came up short.

Isaac Evans had nine points, while Evan

Younger had eight points and Williams finished with six points.

“We cut the lead to two at one point, but a couple of loose balls didn’t bounce our way late in the game,” Parkers Chapel coach Josh Langley said. “The kids fought every second, and you can’t coach that. That fight comes from within, and these guys are ready to fight.”

HAMPTON – Chris Greer’s floater with three seconds left proved to be the game-winner, as Parkers Chapel topped Harmony Grove 27-25 in the final round of the Hampton Junior High Tournament Saturday.

Greer had 12 points and Lancer Clark

added eight points with 14 rebounds for Parkers Chapel. Brody Goodwin added four points in the win.

The Trojans trailed 5-0 at the end of the first quarter and 11-7 at intermission.

Parkers Chapel was down 21-17 after three quarters of play before rallying in the final stanza.

“I’m really proud of how they bounced back from last night without two starters,” Langley said. “We battled the entire game. We are still trying to find our groove offensively with a lot of new guys getting big minutes. Chris led the charge defensively by picking up two big charges. The second one really gave us some momentum in the fourth quarter. Elijah Brown played well for us off the bench, and Joe Bradley (three points) stepped up big for us sliding into a starting roll, grabbing several big rebounds.”
