PARKERS CHAPEL - Four players were in double figures, as Parkers Chapel came from behind to top Woodlawn 63-57 in their 8-2A opener Tuesday night.

Preston Stivender had 16 points for the Trojans (1-3, 1-0), who snapped a three-game skid with their first win of the season.

Amari Bell had 13 points, while Isaac Evans had 12 points and Evan Younger added 11 points for Parkers Chapel.

“I put our guys in a bad spot early in the game, but after half, we went back to playing our brand of basketball and were able to fight back,” said Parkers Chapel coach Josh Langley. “All the credit goes to my guys. They had my back and fought hard to stay in the game. We eventually took the lead and made some huge free throws.”

The Trojans trailed 14-11 after the opening period before the Bears extended their lead to 31-22 at intermission.

Woodlawn led 49-43 after three periods before the Trojans rallied in the final stanza.

“Woodlawn is a good ballclub,” Langley said. “They play extremely hard and come at you full speed ahead. They have got some guys who can really light you up. The first half was played at their pace, and they took advantage. In the second half, we came out and played our game, then we were the ones making shots. We still have a lot of room to improve, but we are making steps in the right direction. I’m really proud of my guys. Even the guys who may not have played were in the game and helped us rally back. That’s what we have got to have is total team efforts every time we play.”

Langley also singled out Caleb Jacobs, Terrell Malone and Zach Williams for handling Woodlawn’s pressure defense.

The Trojans will take on Ouachita at the Battle at the Cove Tournament at Magnet Cove tonight at 5:50 p.m. tonight.
