STAMPS - Life on the road in the 8-2A stands to be a tough one for visiting teams this season.

On Tuesday night, Lafayette County fought back from a ninepoint deficit at halftime to top Parkers Chapel 59-52 in an 8-2A clash.

Amari Bell had 18 points to lead the Trojans (3-4, 1-1) with Preston Stivender adding 11 points, but it wasn’t enough, as Parkers Chapel saw their threegame winning streak come to an end.

“Road wins are going to be tough to come by in this conference this season,” said Parkers Chapel coach Josh Langley. “We got the lead back in the fourth, but they were able to climb back in front and we couldn’t hit the big shot when we needed it in the end.”

The Trojans and Cougars were knotted at 12-all at the end of the first quarter before the Trojans jumped out to a 27-18 lead at halftime.

However, Lafayette County fought back to take a 43-38 lead after three periods of play before

completing their comeback in the final stanza.

“We are going to have to steal some games on the road and make sure we take care of the home court,” Langley said.

Terrell Malone had eight points for the Trojans, who play at Fordyce on Friday.

“I still believe we are a very good team,” Langley said. “We just didn’t finish them off like we are capable. I know these kids will be hungry in practice to make sure we don’t let another one slip away from us.”
