PC nails down spot in regional

SPRING HILL - Preston Stivender scored 24 points, as Parkers Chapel outlasted Spring Hill 58-57 in an 8-2A contest Tuesday night.

The win clinches a spot in the regional tournament for the Trojans (169, 11-4), who will be the No. 2 seed for next week’s district tournament in Fordyce.

The Trojans led by

scores of 15-10 and 29-24 at the end of the first quarter and halftime respective­ly, but the Bears fought back to tie the game at 41-all after three periods of play.

Hays Martin led the Bears with 33 points.

“It was their senior night, and they showed up to play,” said Parkers Chapel coach Josh Langley.

“We left a lot of points on the floor tonight that we have to get cleaned up before tournament time for sure.

“We had some mental mistakes late in the game when we had a chance to close it out. We’ve got two days to get it corrected before we travel to Bearden to finish out the regular season.”

In addition to Stivender, Evan Younger was in double figures with 10 points.

Caleb Jacobs added eight points for the Trojans.

The Trojans also got a solid contributi­on from its bench.

“We had some guys come in and give us some big minutes off the bench in Tyler Killingswo­rth, Trace Shoup and Nik Garcia,” Langley said.
