El Dorado rallies past Camden Fairview 7-5

MAGNOLIA – El Dorado’s softball team improved to 9-0 on the season with a hard-fought 7-5 win over Camden Fairview Friday in the Magnolia Tournament.

The Lady Wildcats rallied from a 4-run deficit with five runs in the fourth inning.

El Dorado was scheduled to play either Taylor or Warren in the semifinals.

The Lady Cardinals scored twice in the first against El Dorado starter Larran Simmons. Fairview added a run in the second and one in the third off Grace Hargett for a 4-0 advantage.

The Lady Wildcats got on the board in the bottom of the third. Sydney Sprawls reached on a one-out single, advanced to second on a ground out by Grace Murry and scored on a two-out single by Ava Dunn.

Allyson Silmon reached on an error before Lea Jones drove in Dunn with a two-out single.

The Lady Cardinals scored again for a 5-2 lead.

El Dorado came back in the bottom of the fourth.

Makaylen Swint led off with a single and advanced to second on Taylor Mayo’s ground ball.

After Hargett was hit by a pitch, Sprawls’ ground ball moved the runners to second and third.

Murry dug out of an 0-2 hole in the count and worked a base on balls to load the bases for Dunn, who stroked a base-clearing double to right-center to tie the game.

Silmon followed with a RBI triple and would later score when Jones’ ground ball to short was misplayed.

Hargett pitched a scoreless fifth inning to end the game.

Dunn went 2-for-3 with four RBI to power El Dorado’s attack.
