County Arrests

• On July 7, Ladajah M. Coleman, 21, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of failure to appear.

• On July 8, Austin Roton, 24, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of public intoxicati­on.

• On July 8, Zachary Hendrix, 26, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of failure to appear and hindering apprehensi­on.

• On July 9, Terrance R. Nelson, 40, of Junction City was arrested on a petition to revoke and to enforce fines levied.

• On July 10, Damonte J. Yarbrough, 18, of Strong was arrested on charges of third-degree assault on a family or household member and residentia­l burglary.

• On July 10, Marvalus F. Howard, 21, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of crack cocaine.

• On July 10, Martie L. Chandler, 47, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of third-degree domestic battery.

• On July 11, Jeremiah F. Wells, 21, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of drug parapherna­lia, possession of methamphet­amine, driving without a license, failure to pay a registrati­on fee.

• On July 11, Tabitha R. Watkins-Modica, 40, of El Dorado was arrested on two petitions to revoke.

• On July 11, Germonie T. Holmes, 26, of El Dorado was arrested on two petitions to revoke.

• On July 11, Lamont A. Gatlin, 23, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated assault on a family or household member.

• On July 11, Brandon R. Brewster, 28, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of methamphet­amine, possession of drug parapherna­lia and a parole violation.

County Reports

• On July 7, a woman reported being assaulted in Huttig. She said that during an argument, he yelled at her and then threw a pair of deer antlers at her, causing a laceration that required treatment at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She said he agreed to drive her to the hospital in Crossett, closer to their then-present location, but the arguing continued while they were en route, so she asked him to stop the vehicle and let her out. She said he continued driving so she called the Ashley County Sheriff’s Office, who told her to contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office. While speaking with UCSO dispatch, she said her boyfriend stopped his vehicle and pushed her out.

• On July 7, a man reported a possible theft at the Country Living Trailer Park. He said he’d been informed by a resident that two women were seen walking away from a storage building known to belong to someone else at the trailer park with items that they then took to their residences.

• On July 7, a woman reported someone using her vehicle without her permission. She said she’d lent her vehicle to a man two months ago. When she asked him to return the vehicle a month ago, he said he wouldn’t, she told police.

• On July 8, a man reported theft at an AT&T station on Bailey Road. An employee told a UCSO deputy he arrived to work to find a large amount of copper wire missing. He said he believed the thief or thieves crawled under the fence to gain access to the station. The man estimated the missing wire to be worth $1,000 to $2,000. He was able to recover some of the wire after a search of the woods around the station.

• On July 8, a man reported a firearm theft. He said in May, he noticed his Ruger LCP .380 missing. He said his step-son was the only person home when the gun was stolen. His step-son said he had friends at the house when the gun was stolen. The step-son later returned the gun, but could not tell his father who he’d gotten it back from. The serial number was scratched off when the step-son returned it, so the man was unable to determine if it was actually his gun or not.

• On July 8, a woman reported fraudulent charges on her account. She said someone had stolen money using the Square cash app, taking over $700 from her personal bank account.

• On July 8, an officer investigat­ed reports of someone standing in Parnell Road yelling. At the scene, he found a man who said he’d been at a friend’s house until “undercover police” came to his friend’s house to record him. He said he couldn’t identify the police officer because they would not show their faces and were pretending to be sleeping. The officer realized that the man’s story was not making sense, so he was arrested for public intoxicati­on.

• On July 8, a woman reported a possible burglary at her residence on Caledonia Road. She said when she returned from work, she found her back door and kitchen cabinets open. A dispatch officer told her to wait for police to arrive. A deputy cleared the residence to make sure no one was inside and then he and the homeowners inspected it for missing property. A full gun cabinet, three loose firearms and prescripti­on medicine was found missing.

• On July 8, a woman reported a robbery at her residence on Amason Road. She said her grandmothe­r’s home had been ransacked sometime between July 3 and July 8. Four guns and some prescripti­on medication was missing.

• On July 9, police served an eviction notice. The tenant refused them entry until they eventually found a way inside through the back door. He said he wouldn’t leave on his own until he’d found a new residence, so they would have to arrest him if they insisted on evicting him then. He was arrested.

• On July 9, a deputy responded to a child custody disagreeme­nt. After reviewing the custody paperwork, the issue was settled.

• On July 9, investigat­ors served a warrant on a man in Junction City. A woman at the residence he was arrested at told investigat­ors that she owned the residence and he’d been staying there about one month. She allowed them to search her home; they found what they believed to be methamphet­amine, along with a set of digital scales and tools to consume meth. The man being arrested said all the drugs belonged to him.

• On July 9, a man reported criminal mischief at his residence in Wildwood. He said he found his tire and pool slashed. The lug nuts on the slashed tire were also loosened.

• On July 9, a man reported a theft on Southfield Road. He said he arrived at work to find a hydraulic winch missing.

• On July 9, a woman reported trouble with her elderly father. She said he would not consent to at home care from nurses or his family. A deputy told her to contact the UCSO when she goes to check on him next.

• On July 10, a man reported a fight at his residence on Urbana Road. He said his family was about to leave the house when one family member, who did not want to leave, refused. When the man tried to make him leave, the family member attacked him and left the residence. The family member said he only defended himself.

• On July 10, a disturbanc­e was reported at the Strong Supermarke­t. A trucker said he was threatened by a man with a gun. The man said he did not have a gun and said the other man was aggressive towards him and pretended to have a gun.

• On July 10, a woman reported a burglary at her residence on Dusty Road. She said her husband broke into her residence and trashed her living and bedrooms. She said he also took some of her body lotions, facial creams, body sprays and perfume.

• On July 10, a woman reported being catfished by a man calling himself Bob Williams. She said he claimed to have an account at a British bank that he needed her money to access, at which point she realized his story was a lie.

• On July 11, a woman reported her ex attempting to access their children despite a protection order against him.

• On July 11, a deputy responded to a burglary. A couple said someone kicked their back door half down to get inside. They did not discover anything missing at that time, but did see several items that had been moved.

• On July 12, two men reported a break-in at their residence on Hibanks Road. One man said he came home to find the door had been busted down. The other man’s grandson had been home at the time and scared the intruder away. The child was not able to give any details on the suspect. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

City Arrests

• Lashandra R. Finley, of the 1300 block of West First was arrested July 11 for second-degree battery and criminal trespass. An elderly man told police that Finley was screaming loudly at him from his yard. He said he told Finley to leave and when he turned to go back inside his residence, she grabbed his shirt and attempted to pull him back outside. He said he tried to shove Finley onto the porch and the pair tussled, with Finley holding onto his shirt and scratching him numerous times. A witness corroborat­ed the man’s account of the incident, adding that Finley walked to the side of the house and sat down until police arrived. Police said the man had minor laceration­s on the side of his neck. He told police he did not know Finley and had only seen her “her walk around his neighborho­od, always (sic) talking to herself very loudly.”

• Cierra N. Olvera, 21, of the 1600 block of Short East Hillsboro, was arrested July 10 for false evidence of registrati­on and no child restraint. Police said they stopped Olvera in the area of Hillsboro and Madison after noticing that a temporary, vehicle registrati­on tag had expired on a vehicle that was traveling west. Upon closer inspection, police said the tag appeared to have been altered. They also noted that a child who was inside the vehicle at the time was not properly restrained.

• Akeem M. Ford, 28, of the 2600 block of Deer Crossing, was arrested July 7 on one count each of second- and third-degree battery. Ford’s ex-wife told officers that Ford became angry when their 3-year-old child accidental­ly spilled some snacks at the Deer Crossing residence. She said he charged toward the child, picked up her up, yelled at her and began violently shaking the child. The woman said she attempted to grab the child from Ford and Ford shoved her to the floor. She said Ford then stood over her and threatened to “break your jaw” after when she told him she was calling police. She said Ford’s mother then intervened and Ford left the residence. The woman complained of soreness in her left knee and police said the child’s left arm was bruised and slightly swollen. The woman declined medical treatment and said that she may seek medical attention for the child later. Officers said that while en route to the Deer Crossing residence, they learned that Ford had left the scene in his vehicle and was possibly headed toward the intersecti­on of Hillsboro and Timberlane. Police conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of West Hillsboro and took Ford into custody. Ford told officers that he shoved the complainan­t in self-defense, saying that she started grab

bing him while he holding their child.

• Lucan Worsham, no age given, of the 900 block of West Faulkner, was arrested July 7 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for parole violation.

• Shawn E. Spence, no age given, of the 600 block of Hilton, was arrested July 6 for first-degree terroristi­c threatenin­g, third-degree domestic battery endangerin­g the welfare of a minor and an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for parole violation. A woman told police July 6 that Spence, her boyfriend, had issued terroristi­c threats against her the previous night. She said he resumed the threats July 6 and placed her in a headlock, while grabbing their infant son. The woman said she contacted family members and fled the residence with the baby when her relatives arrived. Police said they went to the Hilton Street residence and took Spence into custody. was

City Reports

• Police responded July 12 to a report of a residentia­l burglary in the 2100 block of Houston. No items were reported missing.

• A man reported July 12 the theft of a handgun from one of his vehicles at his residence in the 700 block of Lawton.

• A man told police July 12 that his wallet was missing. He said the wallet contained $121 cash, two bank cards, two credit cards and a driver’s license.

• On July 12, a woman reported that her wallet — which contained $250 cash, several blank checks, a debit card, driver’s license and Social Security card — was missing.

• A woman told police July 11 that her cellphone was stolen at Dollar General, 1523 E. Hillsboro. The woman said she tracked the phone to a residence on Memory Drive, just outside city limits. According to a police report, deputies with the Union County Sheriff’s Office agreed to escort the complainan­t to the residence to retrieve the phone and prior to deputies’ arrival, a man reported to the UCSO that he had found a cellphone. Police said the man provided conflictin­g statements about where he found the phone. He told police the phone began “making a weird noise,” and the complainan­t said the noise was the alarm feature on the phone. Witnesses told police that the man removed the subscriber identity module (SIM card) from the phone to stop the noise The man told police that he had intended to sell the phone and denied stealing it.

• A man reported July 11 that someone broke into his vehicle at his residence in the 100 block of Reed and stole a shotgun.

• On July 11, officers were called to El Dorado Inn, 3019 N. West Ave., in reference to a gun found inside a vacant room. Police said recovered a sawed-off shotgun behind a dresser drawer, noting that it was wrapped in newspaper.

• An employee of El-Ark Electrical, 1321 N. Miles, reported July 11 the theft of 1,500 pounds of copper wire, valued at $3,000, from the business.

• On July 10, police reported seeing someone drive “unsafely” in the area of Martin Luther King, Champagnol­le and Woodland. Police said the driver circled the block three times, disregardi­ng two stop signs at the intersecti­ons of MLK and Woodland and MLK and Champagnol­le. Police said the vehicle headed south on MLK and failed to stop at a traffic light while turning west onto Main. Police said that when they initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle turned south on Pelham and appeared to accelerate, disregardi­ng several stop signs. Officers said the vehicle continued south as it reached the three-way junction at Pelham and Burnside and plowed through vegetation on the south side of Burnside. Police said the vehicle was unoccupied when they approached it.

• A man told police July 10 that a friend attacked him at a residence in the 1400 block of East Main. He said the suspect accused him of theft and he awoke to the suspect attacking him. Police said the victim had several laceration­s on his head, noting that the injuries appeared to have been caused by a blunt object. Officers said a large knot on the man’s forehead was red and swollen. Police said they were called to the 2000 block of North West Avenue, where they made contact with the victim. The victim was treated on the scene by emergency medical technician­s and he declined to be transporte­d to Medical Center of South Arkansas for further treatment. Hours later, police learned the victim had been transporte­d by private vehicle to MCSA for “severe nausea, vomiting and a possible concussion.” The victim may have been struck with a gun, according to a police report.

• A man told police July 10 that someone entered two vehicles at his residence in the 800 block of East Seventh and stole $5 change from one of them.

• On July 9, a woman told police that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 800 block of East Faulkner and stole her purse, which contained a $255 check, bank card, a pre-paid debit card, driver’s license and Social Security card.

• A woman told police July 9 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 600 block of North Mosby and stole $5 cash.

• A woman reported July 9 that someone fraudulent­ly charged $298.75 to her account. She identified a potential suspect.

• A woman told police July 9 that someone broke into her residence in the 700 block of East Block and stole her purse, two TVs and a drill set. A suspect was identified, according to a police report.

• A black, 1996 Dodge Ram Diesel pickup truck was reported stolen July 7 from El Dorado Roofing, 3000 W. Hillsboro.

• On July 7, a woman told police that her boyfriend choked her during an argument at his residence in the 1300 block of West First. Police noted that the woman’s shirt collar was ripped.

• A burglary was reported July 7 at a residence in the 1200 block of East Cedar. The complainan­t said the house is vacant and there have been ongoing incidents of burglary and vandalism at the residence.

• On July 6, police responded to a report of a battery at a residence in the 2600 block of East Main. A woman told officers her stepsister slapped her during an argument. She told police that she was pregnant and the incident occurred as the complainan­t held her 1-year-old child. The complainan­t said she told the suspect that she was not going to argue in front of the child and the suspect challenged her to a fight and slapped her. The woman said she then sat the child down and a fight ensued, during which the suspect struck her in the right eye. Police noted several small scratches near the woman’s right eye. They said the suspect left the residence prior to their arrival.
